Ceret holiday villa: Llauro

My wife and myself feel that we have to write to tell you about our wonderful experience in this beautiful house that is nestling in the foothills to the Pyrenees. At first we had some in-trepidation as to our choice of holiday destination.
But we were put totally at ease as soon as we stepped foot in our new holiday home. The house is a total delight with views that stretch for miles across the plain of rousillion to the west and to the south there is a magnificent vista of the Mediterranean (that we were to find out was only 25 minutes in the car to reach).
In the house there is plenty of luxury, obviously furnished with a home in mind, there is nice furniture, a well equipped kitchen and wonderful terrace area were we spent most of our time taking in the scorching sun and watching the stars at night.
This area is a wonder, so many of them hidden around every corner, in the information pack that was in the house, we discovered so many interesting things to do. There is the fantastic town of Ceret with its historical buildings, old Market on Saturday mornings, and of course its art and culture.
A short drive away there is the medieval walled town of Castille Neu, we recommend a trip there, we also visited the open air spa’s at St Thomas, this is wonderful to take in the beauty of the mountains whilst relaxing in a natural spa. What we found incredible was to be able to go up the mountains and enjoy the clear air and breathtaking scenery and then to be able to drive to the beach within an hour and walk on golden sands.
The local towns have an array of super restaurants such as the ones we ate at, in Thuir the Can Marty and in the next village Torderres we ate at the Castelle just to mention a few, we even went to these two more than once.
Anyway we don’t want to go on to much but we will certainly be booking again for next year.
