The surrounding area:
The golden beaches of Canet, St Cyprian, and Argeles are all within a few minutes drive. In high season, during the evenings, Canet beach front is littered with stall holders, where you can shop for local crafts and wares in the warm breeze coming off the Mediterranean.
The 2,700 year old citadel of Elne overlooking the Rousillon plain, is Perpignan's closest out of town attraction.
There are 300 days of sunshine a year, to test your skills on the local quality golf courses.
Andorra is around 90/100 minutes drive where you can ski during winter, and go tax free shoping (e.g. 3 litres Jack Daniels for around 35euros). Pas de La Casa, is on the frontier with France (and the atmosphere in more French than Andorran) and has numerous ski slopes and caters for all abilities. There has also been a sequence of good snow winters.
For children, and most adults, there is Aqualand, a fun filled water theme park that is open from around May to September, times vary, so you need to check.
Water Sports:
All water sports are within 10 minutes drive.
Sailing, jet skiing, fishing are just some of the many activities available.
For the windsurfers and kite surfers, there is lake Leucate, where they hold annual championships. For beginners, it's ideal, as there are several windsurfing schools where you can learn in complete safety without the possibility of drifting out to sea. For the experienced, the lake's 2 miles long, where you can 'hook in' and really have some fun.
Afterwards, you can soak up the sun on the beach or enjoy the private enclosed pool back at the Villa
For golf enthusiasts, just 20 mins away, there is the renowned St. Cyprien Golf club 'Golf International' course. This course, set between lake and sea with the Pyrenees as a backdrop, was used most recently for the European PGA qualifying School for 2004. It has both an 18 hole par 73 6480m main course and a 9 hole par 35 course of 2724m. The main course in particular is challenging with lots of water hazards.

Nearset railway station: Perpignan. Narbonne (40 minutes) is also a terminal for motorail which can be accessed at Calais.
