Day Trips
The coastline is peppered with beautiful beaches, secluded coves and small harbours running right up to the edge of the Pyrenees mountains near the Spanish border. There are many promenades and long sandy beaches, interesting cycle tracks and Spain is only a twenty minute drive along the motorway. The historic centres of Figueres and Girona are well worth a visit, as is the Dali Museum at Figueres. You will be spoiled for choice during the season with lunch and dinner venues or you can buy your own fresh fish and shellfish straight from the trawlers at Port Vendres to throw on the BBQ. The old coast road provides really spectacular views and you can zig zag across the coastal mountainside enjoying spectacular views of the Mediteranean. On the Spanish side you can visit renowned painter Salvador Dali's house at Port Lligat and lunch at the delightful fishing town of Cadaques before heading to the lively beaches of Roses.

Activities
There are countless activities available during the season. If you like the sea then you can kayak, snorkle, dive, swim, take boat trips, paraglide, balloon ride or just sun bathe. You can rent bikes, tandems, quads or trikes and if you prefer being closer to nature there are many riding stables which provide interesting treks along the mountains or guided walks or cycles. You can explore the nearby Costa Brava coastline and the idyllic coves and fishing villages dotted along its length. Take a trip inland to beautiful Prat de Molo and Amelie les Bains and stop off for a coffee in Ceret on your return journey before cooling off with a swim in the lake at St Jean Plat de Cour. Go up the Tet valley via Villefranche to the beautiful Capcir and Cerda. Or if you are feeling energetic head up to the beautiful lakes of Boullouises at the base of the ski resorts of Les Angles and Font Romeu. Come bain winter and ski on those resorts, just two hours drive away. The choices go on
SKIING:
Pyrennees
Sorede is a good low-cost base for skiing, just two hours from the slopes. There are 11 resorts on the French side of the Pyrenees. The nearest Les Angles, Pyrenees 2000 and Font Romeu are only two hours drive away. All resorts are well run, with a fast cable cars from and lots of snow machines to keep the slopes interesting. These resort are great for beginners and intermediates and many very long red and blue and green runs. Several green runs go from 2400 to 1600m in Les Angles. There are also 10 ski stations on the Spanish side of the mountains. The nearest again are about 2 hours drive, but all are within approximately 3 hours. If you want even more choice, then Andorra is about three hours drive away.
