Barjac

Barjac is an exceptionally pretty village, with both medieval and renaissance architecture, which has been carefully restored over the years. Renowned throughout France for its Foire a la Brocante - Antique Market - which takes place twice yearly, at Easter and mid August, and brings over 3 000 traders providing many exciting treasures to be found. A bustling market takes place every Friday and there are a choice of shops with local products as well as restaurants and cafés overlooking the 'boules ' players on the village square.

Local activities

Situated in the River Ceze valley, there are many pleasant river beaches at a short drive, ideal for fishing, swimming, picnics and of course canoeing. The stunning Gorges de l'Ardeche are at a short drive as are the largest caves of Europe in Orgnac l'Aven. A wonderful area for walking and even horse riding in the unspoilt scenery leading towards the Cevennes mountains.
