This lovely old mill cottage, dating from the 17 th century, lies in a wooded valley with grounds of five acres of pine and green oak trees and a little stream running at its feet. It has a well attended garden planted with Mediterranean trees and shrubs ; a lawn and sun terraces surround the the private swimming pool of 8 x 4 mts, The house is very well appointed and decorated ; with the original terracotta tiles,immense oak beams and stylish furniture , the traditional charm and character of the house has been well preserved and is combined with all modern comfort.Large reception rooms and newly fitted kitchen have large bay windows overlooking the forest and are very light and airy whilst the thick stone walls provide coolness in the heat of the day. A very large veranda summer dining room leads directly on to the garden and has an important chimney BBQ built in as well as a summer kitchen and utility room. A breakfast terrace leads directly off the kitchen down towards the pool

Calm and secluded, the Mas du Ruis is at a short drive from the pretty provencal village of Goudargues, very handy for shopping and restaurants. At only 30 kms from Uzes, it is also within an hours drive of both Avignon and Nimes making it a perfect base for visiting Provence. The Ceze river valley is renowned for its beautiful wild scenery and the river beaches are a delight for fishing , swimming and picnics. Wild life abounds and there are many beautiful walks around the Mas itself, also quiet country roads ideal for biking. Local markets with a great choice of regional products can be found every day a well as a large selection of Cotes du Rhone vineyards.

The area of Goudargues is a perfect base for visiting Provence with many important sights to be seen,; Avignon and the Papal Palace, Nimes with its Roman remains, Orange with its magnificent amphitheatre hosting many important musical festivals and of course , the imposing Pont du Gard, at a short drive, with the possibility of canoeing down the Gardon and under this world monument, very impressive !
