Medieval village house between Avignon and Nîmes
An old village house dating from medieval times with a shady courtyard (welcome in hot weather!), paved garden with oleanders and olive tree and roof terrace with panoramic views across the roofs of Montfrin to the countryside beyond. The house is right in the village with good local shops a couple of minutes' walk away, but its position on the hillside just below the chateau means it is extremely peaceful and private.

Montfrin is between Avignon and Nîmes, roughly 15 km from each. It is on the river Gardon which flows under the Pont du Gard at Remoulins, 8 km up river. With Montfrin as a base it is a short drive to Avignon, Arles, Nimes and the beautiful countryside of the Alpilles to the east of Tarascon. In under an hour if you head south you reach the Camargue (lagoons with flamingos, bulls, wild horses and long sandy beaches). To the West you reach the Luberon (Peter Mayle country) and the market at Ile sur la Sorgue is well worth a visit. The area has much to offer - beautiful and varied countryside, history ( the arênes at Arles and Nimes, the Antique theatre at Arles, the Palais de Pâpes in Avignon, the Pont du Gard..), a succession of summer festivals (in Avignon, Arles, Orange and Aix en Provence to mention the most famous). If you like walking Montfrin is on the GR footpath leading from Beaucaire to the Pont du Gard.

| Notes: | Montfrin has a public swimming pool which is due to re-open in July 2008 - it is a five minute walk from the house.There is also a very pleasant (heated) public swimming pool in the village of Meynes ( 4 km away). Both pools are open during the French summer holidays (July and August). The 40M2 living room contains a ping pong table which guests are welcome to use. Connection to internet is possible via the telephone line but broadband is not installed. Access to the house and to the garden terrace and top terrace involves going up stairs : they are not steep, but are nevertheless not ideal for very small children. Bedlinen and towels are available if required: there is a laundry charge of 8€ for double bed linen, 6€ for single bed linen and 4€ per person for towels |
