The house is in a classic French village 49km north of Montpellier, sometimes called the Paris of the south because of the impressiveness of the architecture and the liveliness of the cultural life. It is 10min walk from waterfalls and river beaches, at the foot of the Cevennes mountains so you have both wild, unpacked countryside and the mellow Mediterranean vineyards of sensuous Provence. The nearest towns are Ganges(5km) and Le Vigan(15km) which are pleasantly slow-paced, full of nooks and crannies and sport festivals at different times of the year. You can walk out into the mountains from the front door and the roads are rarely congested for exploratory driving at all times of the year. The clear rivers Vis and Herault run nearby and are popular for swimming and canooing. The med beaches and the Camargue are an hour away. The village itself is an artist's delight with cafe/restaurant, post office, library and bakery. In winter it's possible to ski around Mont d'agouil 80km away.
