This home has everything you might expect from a French country cottage - huge beams, stone walls, shuttered windows and tiled and wood floors. It has a beautiful rural setting, with lovely views from the large garden, yet its within easy walking distance of a small town with every convenience. Our cottage has been newly renovated and offers every convenience alongside old world charm. The downstairs living area has a beamed ceiling, an antique armoire and a powerful log-burning stove (Logs provided free of charge). The fully equipped kitchen has top range new appliances and leads to the large garden and patio. The garden itself has a range of outdoor furniture for enjoying the wonderful weather of the Limousin. A wooden staircase brings you to the attic, a magnificent space that runs the length of the house. With its huge original beams and wood floors, it has an extra large bed and a newly installed bathroom. Even in the heart of summer, this cottage is a rural retreat.

Nearest Airport: Poitiers (also Limoges) at 64 Kilometres
Nearest Train: La Souterraine at 24 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 11.0 Kilometres
Car: necessary
This is a countryside of lakes, rivers and woods where swimming, fishing and walking are easily pursued. Yet you are also close to the historic towns of Montmorillon, Le Dorat and La Souterraine. There are numerous excellent restaurants in the locality and value is excellent in the Limousin. The home itself is situated (about 8 min walk) near a small town with every facility. (Butcher, bakeries, bars etc) Our local lake is also within easy walking distance - it has walking and fishing facilities and play area. An 8-10 min drive will bring you to an excellent lake facility, with beach, excellent new heated swimming pool, restaurant etc. Eight minutes will also bring you to another such facility with a diving platform into the lake. Even in the height of summer, there are no crowds and no parking problems - just the beauty of the French countryside. Our local towns have excellent shopping, with regular weekly markets. 'We had a great time in Limousin and thoroughly enjoyed using your gite as a base. Especially liked the upstairs room - very atmospheric ' - Tim Crump, U.K.

'Just back at work after my break, your home was a pleasure to stay in, we loved the area and are definitely going back with our kids in tow! Thanks again for all your help, I have never been in such an outstanding place, the people, the food and the weather were all outstanding. We visited all the local towns and Limoges but the highlight was the fabulous restaurant La Marmite' (in Le Dorat) - Karen McMahon, Ireland.

Lovely cosy cottage

We (a group of 5 adults) had a lovely relaxing week. The cottage is charming and cosy and tastefully decorated. We particularly liked the beams, the wooden spiral staircase and the exposed stones on the wall. The garden is also great for dinning al fresco. The kitchen is well-equipped and has everything we needed. We also loved the location - idyllic and quiet yet within 10min walk of a small town completed with bakery and a small supermarket (there are also big supermarkets within a short drive). It's also well located for visiting all the pretty historic old towns in the region. The owners and house managers are very accommodating, quick in responding to our enquiries and are more helpful than we could wish for (we had nightmarish problems organising transports...).

Overall we would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in rural France!

After our underestimating the travel time to the cottage it was good to receive a warm welcome from Jacqui despite the late hour. The provisions were an added bonus!. After a good sleep, we were delighted to find ourselves in a charming hamlet within walking distance of a 'spar shop', a boulangerie and a friendly bar.

With easy access to and from the cottage to both the A20 and the N145, through some beautiful countryside we visited Limoges, Oradour sur Glane and the spa town of Evaux les Bains, along with the market at Boussac.
A good relaxing week in a lovely cottage.
