Beauvais farmhouse is set in a hamlet amidst the still unspoilt countryside of La Creuse in the Limousin region. The house has been restored to an excellent standard and the owners have taken care to provide a high degree of comfort without compromising the original features of the building. Beauvais offers stunning panoramic views and is set in two hectares of pasture belonging to the house as well as garden, vegetable plot and orchard - with no immediate neighbours. With the private pool it offers the opportunity for a perfect family holiday.

La Creuse is a truly beautiful part of Central France. It is essentially a heavily wooded rural area with small fields, proper hedgerows and farm animals reared by traditional methods. There is real pleasure to be found walking, cycling and exploring the network of lanes and chemins. There are many lakes to see locally, regular markets in local towns and historical sites worth a visit. The location of Beauvais can be described as secluded and calm. At 500m the air is noticeably clear and unpolluted.

There is an additonal `bateau bed` on the landing on the second floor. Cot is available with mosquito net. Beds are ready made up for your arrival.

Beauvais offers the perfect family holiday for: Those looking for a peaceful, relaxing; secluded holiday. However, the surrounding area also offers a range of activities. The local towns of Ahun, Chénérailles and Jarnages host regular markets during the week. At week-ends there are numerous vide-greniers (car boot sales) and brocantes (antique fairs). There are also historical sites to visit at Moutier D'Ahun, Masgot and Château de Villemonteix at Chénérailles.

Guèret, the main town of La Creuse, has : numerous attractions worth a visit. There is the giant maze and the wolves of Chabrières as well as a size able lake at Courtille where it is possible to windsurf, canoe and fish. The Lake at Vassivières (over 1000 hectares) is about 90 minutes away for real water sports' enthusiasts. The Puy de Sancy (1885m) is superb for walking and general sightseeing (also 90 minutes away). More locally there is an equestrian centre at Ajain and parachuting at Saint Laurent aerodrome. There are tennis courts at Ahun, Jarnages and Chénérailles. It is possible with a licence to fish in the River Creuse.

There are numerous restaurants within 10km: Of Beauvais. These include 'Le Viaduc' (Eiffel) at Busseau-sur-Creuse; 'La Creperie' at Ahun; 'Le Coq D'Or' at Chénérailles and 'Le point du jour`' at Sainte Feyre as well as `La Belle Epoque` in Gueret(at 24 km). There are numerous cafés to try which offer real value for money.

Beautiful house that has been furnished tastefully and in keeping with this type of property , very well equipped , everything catered for . We really liked the area beautiful countryside and not too many tourists ! if you want total peace this is the place to go but it is still close enough to towns and shops , we particularly enjoyed the bikes and saw lots of wildlife deer red squirrels and koypu ,the owners were very welcoming and helpful , all in all a lovely place ,somewhere we hope to return to .
Recommended for:  Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Charming farmhouse in peaceful rural setting

We spent two weeks in this house in August 2007. Of the many houses we have rented over the past six years we think this is the best. The house has been restored to a high standard, and has all that you could need. We all loved the pool, grass area and vegetable patch. In fact, our children loved the vegetable patch so much there were few carrots remaining by the time we left!!

This is the first house we rented in Limousin and the region is wonderful with far fewer holiday makers than other areas of France.

We truly could not recommend this property more. We hope to visit again very soon.

A 2 week holiday at Beauvais Farmhouse

We are just back from a 2 week holiday at Beauvais farmhouse.
We had a wonderful time there, the house is very comfortable, and furnished with very good taste. Everything is done so that you can feel at home.
The pool is a great plus, so are the ping-pong table, bicycles, and all the books and games provided by the owners.
There are a lot of things to do in the area (visits, sport activities etc.), and there are many restaurants to try!! With 2 kids (ages 14 and 10), we were never bored, and there are still many activities we didn't have time to do (castle and town visits, going to the golf course...).
We would highly recommend this location, and the owners are a wonderful couple, always ready to give good advice.
