The cottage has been tastefully renovated. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens. There is an old brick bread oven in the kitchen French doors lead to a paved sitting area. Garden furniture and barbecue are available. The cottage is centrally heated, but there is also a stove in the old fireplace, which adds to its charm (and comfort!) About 300 meters from the cottage are the ruins of a medieval/renaissance chateau. Its barn has been restored and is being used for various events: films, theatre, concerts, and parties.

Nearest Ferry : Calais at 450 Kilometres
Nearest Train : Selles sur Cher at 16 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway : Vatan at 20 Kilometres

Veuil is a small village of 370 inhabitants, it has a beautiful Romanesque church. The ruins of a castle built between 1500 and 1700 tower above the village, the origins of the castle dating back to the Middle Ages. There is a programme of theatre, films, picnics etc in the court or restored barn of the castle every summer, the cottage lies just a stone throw away and the centre of the village 400m. Veuil is located approx 250km southwest of Paris, 60km south of Blois on the Loire, 20km south of Selles on the river Cher. The whole area is dotted with chateaux, the closest to be visited is the chateaux of the Prince Talleyrand at Valencay (6km).

Notes: The cottage has one bedroom with a double bed (140x190cm), there is a convertible sofa in the living room providing two more sleeping places. The cottage is not suitable for a baby or toddler (no changing facilities) and I consider the environment not safe for a toddler (2 ponds!) The accommodation lies entirely on ground floor level, therefore it is suitable for elderly or infirm people. Wheelchairs, however, could only get to the living room area, the doors are not wide enough to reach bathroom and bedroom. Expanding a little on my 'no' to pets: I have 5 cats, 6 sheep, 2 geese, 6 hens and one cockerel - so I am afraid that a dog might interfere with these!
