Tiled floors, stone walls, exposed beams. The cottage combines rustic simplicity with modern conveniences, a perfect base for country walks, horse riding, fishing, wine tasting and visiting chateaux. The 8m x 4m private pool has a security cover for safety. On the terrace, a long table overlooks the pool, and the barbeque is nearby. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable in any season with beautiful oak and pine furniture throughout. In the living area, there are squashy leather chairs and a sofa for lounging by the log fire or satellite TV. Over-sized duvets and hot water bottles are provided in the bedrooms making this self-catering rental comfortable all year round.

Notes to the rental rates

• Rates include bed linen, towels including pool towels, and after-stay clean. For longer bookings, beds are changed every Saturday when there is also a complimentary clean.
  
• Electricity and firewood are charged at 50 euros per week from the beginning of October to the end of April.
  
• The cottage is also available for long winter lets at reduced rates.

Inside

I enjoyed furnishing the cottage, over-spending my budget in local shops and markets. Books, games, DVDs and music CDs are available. The wines of our region are not to be missed and a small selection is stored in the old bread oven that serves as a wine cellar. I am a keen cook and you will find balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and Dijon mustard as standard, as well as an extensive range of herbs and spices. There are plenty of pots and pans in good working order (no loose handles) and generous-sized dishes holding enough for everyone.

Outside

The garden stretches out beyond the pool with nothing to block the stunning sunrises and sunsets we experience. You are welcome to pick the grapes, plums, cherries and apples. The entrance is secured with a lockable iron gate and there is room for up to 3 cars to park.

Lifestyle

If you want to experience life in the heart of France, stay at my cottage for a couple of weeks. There are few tourists other than some discerning French who want to keep the Berry a secret. Meet our friendly French neighbours and unwind in the peaceful countryside. The pool is there for your use in summer and the log fire in winter. You can enjoy a quiet day in the sun or explore the many interesting walks, chateaux, golf courses and much more - all within driving distance of the house.
