From the garden of the property there are footpaths down to the river Cher where one can walk its banks into the fine old town of Montrichard. The town has a twice weekly colourful street market and many local events are held during the season. It has banks, shops, restaurants, cinema, etc, and it's own beach. Many of the famous Chateaux are easily reached with the beautiful Chenonceau which straddles the river Cher being only six kilometres away.

The cottage, situated in the heart of France's beautiful Chateau country sleeps six, is within 25 minutes walking distance of Montrichard. It consists of one double bedroom one twin bedroom , shower room and toilet, fully fitted kitchen / diner and lounge with it's original beams and terracotta floors. The large fireplace contains a wood burning stove for which logs are provided.

The garden which contains garden furniture and barbeque backs onto farmland around which are public footpaths where you can walk to the river Cher which is well stocked and fishing permits can be obtained or walk along it's banks to Montrichard. If you have a DOG which are very welcome here, it's a wonderful place for walking them. Montrichard is a beautiful old medieval town, and has it's own castle together with many shops and restaurants features a colour street market twice a week.

One can hire bicycles and cycle to Chennonceau the second most visited chateau in France and marvel at it's wonderful architecture as it straddles the river Cher. As we are situated in the touraine wine producing district we can arrange local tastings.

We had a great holiday in France, the cottage was in a perfect location or visiting the castles. It was very well equipped, (we loved having a toaster) the brochures were very helpful and the fireplace was certainly welcomed in the evening.
Thanks to Sharon for allowing us the use of her computer, we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice, quiet vacation.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

A lovely holiday

Hello, I'm Polly a Border Collie, and we have just come home from the most wonderful holiday at Sharon & Phil's cottage. A more dog-friendly place my mum and dad couldn't have taken me to, what with all the fantastic walks right from the doorstep, along the river and into the vineyards, to the dog friendly eating places like the De La Gare hotel where I was made as welcome as mum and dad, then back home again to be made a total fuss of by Sharon & Phil. Mum and dad enjoyed their holiday just as much as me and we all are looking forward to visiting again, in fact I didn't want to come home.
Recommended for:  Pet-friendly, Sightseeing

Nice holiday in the Loire Valley

We just came back from a 10 day holiday in the Loire Valley.
We had a great time, the cottage has everything you need, it is very comfortable. The location is very good, it's near to a supermarket and it's good for people, who want to visit the castles, because it's in the middle of the most beautiful and biggest castles.
Sharon and Philip, thank you for the nice holidays.
