Photos and Description of this Loir-et-Cher holiday cottage Self-catering cottage, sleeps five, with patio and access to garden.

This attractive cottage is on one end of a traditional stone-built Longere, 'Le Clos St Vincent' occupied by the proprietors. It consists of a bright living /dining room with adjoining open kitchen, shower room with WC, and upstairs, a double bedroom which also has a single bed and space for a cot if needed, plus a twin bedroom. The bedrooms feature the original roof beams of this part of the house, which was converted from what was originally a stable attached to the main house. The brand new kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob with hood, and fridge, and is fully equipped with coffee maker, kettle, crockery, pots pans and cutlery. Free use is offered of the washing facilities in the adjoining laundry room. In the living room there is a television with DVD player. Outside, there is a sheltered,sun-filled patio corner with table and chairs, and a barbecue, and visitors also have access to the garden. There is secure parking for cars.

Le Clos St Vincent is situated in the quiet, hilltop hamlet of Le Bourg, St Julien de Chedon, and is surrounded by vineyards which produce the world-famous Touraine wines. St Julien lies in the valley of the beautiful River Cher, near the pretty medieval town of Montrichard, with its donjon, small shops, restaurants, pleasure beach on the banks of the river and twice-weekly market. Within easy reach are many of the chateaux of the Loire Valley – Chenonceaux, Amboise, Loches, Chambord, and many more – and the historic cities of Blois and Tours with their pedestrianised medieval quarters and fine shopping areas. For families with younger children, great days out might include canoeing on the river, the Zoo de Beauval, the Mini -chateaux or the aquarium at Amboise, the fantasy Forest or, at a slightly greater distance, Futuroscope at Poitiers. Beautiful gardens, fine food and wines, walking, cycling .... there is plenty to see and do in this wonderful corner of France!

Short but sweet stay in this excellent gite

Myself and my husband with 2 friends stayed in this delightful gite for 3 nights and wished it were longer! The owners were so friendly and helpful we could not have asked for a better welcome. We had a couple of hours talking to the hosts and more than a couple of drinks with them and they made the place seem like home from home. The gite was well equipped and the beds were comfortable and warm. Would highly recommend this gite to anyone wishing to see the Loire Valley and the Chateaux area. Perflectly placed but quiet and private and within a stones throw of many lovely places. 5*

The accommodation was of a very high standard, perfectly clean and well equipped. Directions were very clear, the owners provided an excellent service and I would happily reccommend this holiday home to all my friends.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and information as to attractions and places to go was readily on hand.

If you did not own a car you would have to enjoy walking, as there are some lovely places to explore and visit.

A Wonderful Retreat In the Loire Valley, France

This gite was definitely one of our best finds. The location is in the heart of the Loire Valley which gives you easy access to all the Chateaus. The gite itself is spacious, clean and contains all that you need for a comfortable stay. Montrichard, its nearby town,can provide your shopping needs.The owners were very accommodating and always ready to advise you.They have provided you with maps and brochures to the surrounding area and are happy to discuss your choice of the day. Sitting in the back yard in the evening , sipping wine, was a great way to end our day.The backyard is lovely with fruit trees and flowers. It has no obstructed views but looks out onto fields.Also, since the gite is gated your personal belonging ie car is not at risk. We can't say enough as to how ideal this gite is! After exploring all day long it was great coming 'home' !!!

Vacation at St Julien du Chdon

The Gite is set in a picturesque village in the Cher Valley which is easily accessible from the main routes. The property is in excellent condition and obviously well maintained and cared for by the owners. It is situated in an ideal spot for rest and relaxation and the local vineyards provide excellent opportinities for safe walking. The garden, besides being attractive, provides a safe environment for children to play.
The welcome and support throughout our stay by the owners and their 'anybody' friendly dog was superb. Nothing was too much trouble for them and their detailed knowledge of the area and its attractions was invaluable in planning our excursions.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to our friends. Indeed, we have already done so and plan to return there ourselves in the not too distant future, as there are many other places in the area that we would still love to see and explore.
We particularly enjoyed our visits to the Chateaux at Chenonceau and Cheverny plus the former Abbaye Royale of Fontevraud. Having studied Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lion-Heart at school many years ago, it was fascinating to find their burial place in the middle of France. The town of Loches and the market at Blois were also highlights of our visit.

We had a great stay in Loire valley. The gite was great and Sue and Paul really helped to put everything into perspective as there is SO much to see and do in the area.
Owner's Response: Thanks to these guests, who tried out a different activity (canoeing down the River Cher, under the arches of the chateau at Chenonceau), enabling us to recommend this enjoyable activity in the future.
