Dating back to about 1700, La Folie is a 'Coeur de ferme' situated in tranquil Touraine countryside in the Loire Valley. It is close to the villages of Betz-le- Chateau and Ferrière Larçon and twenty minutes drive from the historic town of Loches (where the recently discovered Caravaggio paintings are on display). It is within easy reach of many of the Loire Chateaux and is a perfect, peaceful hideaway - your ideal spot for a relaxing holiday in France. There are two cottages, Hirondelles, the original farm house with five bedrooms and Tourterelles, part of the original stables, with 3 bedrooms. The two cottages share the use of an 11 metre heated pool. Further photos and other information can be found on owners web site.

The original, centrally heated farmhouse combines the old and the new with a modern fully equipped kitchen, large living/dining room, an additional sitting room/study, 5 bedrooms (2 double, 1 small double and 2 single), 2 bathrooms, a shower-room and an additional mezzanine reading room. This is a comfortable cottage for a large family and accommodates up to 8. The kitchen includes a gas range cooker with 5 burners and 2 ovens, dishwasher, large fridge, large washing machine, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster. There is a shared tumble dryer in one of the barns. The cottage has two outside eating areas and facilities include an above ground swimming pool (New in-ground pool available from June 2007), swing set and trampoline together with a range of bicycles and a boule court.

  • For small parties we can offer a small party discount in May and September. Please ask!
    Rentals are secured on payment of a deposit of 25% of the rental. The balance is due 8 weeks before the start of the rental together with a security deposit of 150 Euros against damage. Security deposit refunded within 28 days after departure. Deductions made for damages, missing items, extra cleaning costs and telephone charges.
    Payment in Euros may be made by Bank Electronic Funds Transfer, International Bank Transfer or Wire. Payment may be negotiated in Sterling, by Credit Card or Pay Pal and subject to applicable fees.

    All rentals include bedding bath towels and beach towels. In comparing rents please note there is NO charge for linen.
  • We are happy to discuss long term rentals and winter rentals. Please enquire.
  • Larger families may wish to rent both houses, we offer a discounted rate when renting both houses.

Notes: The clothes drier is shared between the two cottages and is located in the barn. Bicycles and the Heated Pool (new from June 2007) are shared between the two cottages. Each cottage has its own barbecue and outdoor sitting area. The trampoline (with safety net) , swing set and outdoor table tennis table are shared. Ground floor facilities are mainly wheelchair accessible but there is a step down to main bathroom.

Fantastic place

This is the ideal setting for a quiet but fun filled holiday. The property is a fantastic base with lots for the children to do or you are within an hour of most of the top visitor attractions in the area. The pool is great and the children spent most of there time there.
The property itself was very clean and provided everything we could need, the owner has been very helpful.
We especially enjoyed the local markets in Descartes and Loches.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
