Villa de la Motte's curious art deco design is due to a local architect and is evident from the mosaic flooring to the curious staircase leading from the first floor to the second. It is a semi troglodyte house - half of the property sits in the caves. it is is bordered on either side by three large caves which were excavated to build the chateaux. The cave to the left of the kitchen has its own bread oven which is perfect for cooking paella. There is also a separate summer room and terrace which provides additional dining space and games. It is situated ten minutes walk from the ancient town of Montrichard and the River Cher with its sandy beach and children's play area, canoeing and bar/restaurant. It is five minutes walk from the local bakers and supermarket. Montrichard has its own Donjon (castle) which can be seen from the villa, cinema, restaurants and bars. Chateau Chenonceau, France's most popular tourist attraction, is 15 minutes by car or by boat along the River Cher
