Unwind at this peaceful and charming retreat set in an elevated position overlooking some of the most beautiful French countryside in the region. Relax with a glass of local “Vin” while sunbathing in the beautiful garden as the children enjoy the day by the pool. Or visit any of the nearby picturesque Bastide towns, local markets, golf courses or leisure lakes. Then enjoy in the warm evening air, a BBQ of fresh local produce on the outdoor terrace by the pool but only if you do not wish to sample any of the fantastic local restaurants. As you will see from our guest book this really is the perfect family holiday in France.

The house is on the edge of the small charming village of Caubon which sits midway between the towns of Duras and Marmande, in the Lot et Garonne region. Duras with its large medieval Chateau and cobbled streets is an extremely popular attraction. There is a very good market here on Saturdays and Cave de Berticot the local wine producer is a must visit. Marmande in the other direction is a town typical of real France. Pretty in its centre with many shops and activities, the town hosts 4 large supermarkets and several retail zones and any other facility you may need. Wine lovers will enjoy sampling the local grape of Cave du Beaupuy. The Historic towns of Bergerac, St Emilion & Bordeaux, are all less than an hour away and the Atlantic coastal town of Arcachon only an hour & a half.

Notes: UK satellite channels provided. All rooms are on ground level and easily accessed by those with limited mobility. There is also a games room with pool table and table tennis table. Although the house good for people with limited mobility as its all on ground level. There are a few steps into lounge and pool area so not fully wheel chair friendly.

About the house: Chante Merle is a rural farmhouse recently refurbished with all today’s comforts. Its style mixes the rustic charm of wooden beams and a wood burning fire, with a clean modern décor.

The house and swimming pool are private and secluded set within its own substantial mature garden. Yet being on the edge of a small village means it’s not remote. The aspect of the house and pool look out over beautiful rolling countryside and commands a spectacular view. The house is very spacious and can comfortably accommodate up to 8 people in a family party. All rooms are on ground level making easy access possible for those not so mobile. All shops & facilities are just a short drive away.

Getting there: Bergerac Airport, served by Ryanair is 45 minutes drive away and Bordeaux Airport with a choice of several carriers, less than 1hour 30 mins. Both are well serviced with car hire companies. Or if you prefer to drive all the way its approx 10- 12 hours from the northern ports.

Private pool: Own private swimming pool: 10 x 5 metres with wide Roman steps and surrounding sun terrace depth 1m to 1.8m. Fully compliant with French safety laws. 6 x sun loungers. Separate dining terrace alongside with BBQ lit at night.
