Lespaze is set in 16 acres with magnificent views of the XIII Royal bastide village of Tournon d'Agenais and surrounding countryside and has three high quality cottages renovated from a Quercy Barn and is set amongst fields and woods with plenty of space for guests to enjoy the restful views and children to play safely. The cottages are light, attractive and well furnished and retain their original stone walls and oak beams. Each of the cottages has its own front terrace with BBQ and garden furniture and there are additional stepped terraces overlooking the pool for “al-fresco” dining and relaxing.

Accommodation: The ground floor of all the cottages has a spacious sitting room and dining room and a very well equipped kitchen that has a gas cooker with oven, fridge and microwave. There is a shower-room with WC and basin and a separate WC with basin. The upper floor of the cottages differs slightly in all the houses: Ref 34: Lot Cottage: One double bedroom, one twin and a second double bedroom that also has a single bed. Ref 35: Garonne Cottage: One double bedroom, and two twin bedrooms. Ref 36: Tarn Cottage: One double bedroom, one twin bedroom and one triple. The barn opposite the cottages has a washing machine, deep sink and a chest freezer. The Games Barn has excellent facilities: darts, table tennis, bikes, games, puzzles and TV with English satellite and video and dvd. The badminton net is situated in the field where children can enjoy ball games. A small fun boules court overlooks the valley with views across to Tournon.

The principal cities are Toulouse and Bordeaux. Between these two are major towns including: Fumel: Named after Françoise de Fumel, once captain of the kings guard and Catherine de'Medici's ambassador to Constantinople, it has a good range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and a cinema. Villeneuve-sur-Lot: A powerful bastide on the banks of the Lot river. Founded in 1264 it has preserved a large quantity of small streets and half-timbered buildings. Close by is a superb 18 hole golf course. Tournon d'Agenais: Pretty Royal bastide village from 1271 and on the route of St Jaques de Compostella with a lovely square and belfry tower superb views, leisure lake, restaurants, small supermarket, galleries, and seasonal market. Penne d'Agenais: Penn means hill crest in Celtic and this lovely restored 'arty ' village once had a castle built by Richard Coeur de Lion. It has an interesting basilica, lovely views over the Lot river, restaurants and many local artisans.

We have just returned from 2 weeks staying in Lespaze. Cottages spotless, comfortable and very well equipped, plenty of space for children to play, swimming pool fab, games room a big hit. The owners Jill and Bernie could not have been more helpful. A fabulous spot for exploring - treetop climbing, canoeing, horseriding. All in all a fabulous holiday.
