Delightful spacious country farmhouse, with private pool

‘Lafaurie’ is a traditionally renovated old country farmhouse, located in the beautiful Lot-et Garonne, close to the Dordogne border. Enjoying a rural setting, ‘Lafaurie’ is conveniently situated just a few minutes from the well supplied market towns of Miramont de Guyenne and Eymet with supermarkets, bars, cafés, bakers, butchers, fishmongers and it's wonderful markets. The owners, Jane and Alan live in the adjoining barn, and whilst on hand to assist with any queries or share a bottle of local wine, the Gite is entirely self contained with private gardens, pool, access and parking.

Within just a few minutes from the gite, you can enjoy the pretty 'Bastide' villages and towns such as Eymet, Duras and Monflanquin. Here, visiting the squares and Chateaus are a must as well as stopping to sample the numerous bars and restaurants. In turn, each local village and town has it's weekly market, with a full display of local produce. The most popular are the Monday market in Miramont-de-Guyenne or Thursday in Eymet, both of which are just a few minutes drive. These well equipped towns have several bars, bakeries, butchers and great restaurants. As a large wine producing region, there are numerous vineyards all over which offer wine tasting. Within just half an hours drive, you can also enjoy large town centres such as Bergerac, Marmande and Villeneuve-Sur-Lot.

Linen and towels can be provided. If you prefer to bring your own, please just let us know. The house has been carefully restored to blend original character with all modern conveniences and thus still enjoys exposed stone walls, exposed beams, tiled and terracotta floors and shuttered windows. A large covered veranda overlooking a shaded terrace leads into the sitting room which has a wood burning stove. This is comfortably furnished with sofas and armchairs. From the kitchen/diner, a half glazed stable door overlooks and opens onto a further terrace surrounded by maturing shrubs, flowers and fruit trees. A natural spring fed “source” trickles across pebbles and beneath the steps which rise up to the paved terrace surrounding your private swimming pool.

We stayed at Lafaurie in August 2007 and enjoyed a wonderful holiday. The owners, Jane & Alan Patterson were extremely helpful from the day we booked our holiday right through the duration of our stay.

This Gite is set in beautiful grounds surrounded by trees, flowers and shrubs and is quite simply beautiful and spotlessly clean; “home from home”.

The best bit for us was the peace and tranquility and the feeling of being completely ‘away from it all’.
