Le Rieutord is a stunning stone built farmhouse located in a peaceful area with spectacular views over the rolling French countryside. The house has been recently restored and furnished to a very high standard. We are situated near the villages of Eymet and Duras in the Lot et Garonne where you will discover the heart of France's wine and gatronomic region. Le Rieutord offers a perfect setting for relaxing and within a short drive you will find numerous restaurants, shops and various sporting activities. We also have a newly built private hard surface all-weather tennis court and swimming pool adjoining the house. With five spacious and well lit bedrooms, Le Rieutord will accommodate ten people plus baby. It is an ideal base for wine tasting in places such as St. Emilion and visiting historic towns such as Eymet, Duras and Bergerac. There are daily markets in this area all year round and night markets throughout the summer.

The nearest village is Duras with its fascinating chateau. The picturesque town comes alive in the summer with weekly events such as the wine festival, antiques fairs and night markets. There is a lively market on Monday mornings Le Rieutord is close to Bergerac, where, in addition to its wines is an important tobacco growing centre and in the old town you can visit both the tobacco and wine museums. The town is very busy in the summer months with Saturday (a.m.) and Wednesday (all-day) markets. With is an excellent choice of open-air eateries. St. Émilionis best known for its wines, St. Émilion, is also a beautiful medieval town and a World Heritage Site. Take a guided tour from the tourist office; enjoy the view from the bell tower. Wine lovers can arrange tastings and tours (also at the tourist office). Busy town of Ste. Foy la Grande on the Dordogne river. The furthest east of the Bordeaux wine appellation. Bustling Saturday market and good choice of restaurants.

Day Trips: Recommended towns to visit are Bergerac, Ste-Foy-la-Grande. Eymet, Duras & Monsegur. Duras is a pretty town perched high on an escarpment above the valley of the River Dropt. Here there are local shops, bars and restaurants plus a lively market every Monday. In the summer, the château holds music concerts. For day-trips into the Dordogne valley you can either drive east beyond Ste-Foy-la-Grande and Bergerac. Sarlat by train from Ste. Foy la Grande. Set off early from Ste. Foy and travel up the Dordogne valley to the beautiful town of Sarlat arriving in time for lunch. Canoeing (Summer Only). Leave your car at Beynac and take the 'canoe bus' 15kms up river. Drift back, stopping for a picnic lunch, a swim and take in some stunning scenery of the Châteaux. The city of Bordeaux is less than an hour away and is a good option for a day-trip, whether it’s boutique shopping, sight-seeing or culture.
