Situated near the villages of Duras & Eymet, 'Au Mauvais' is a restored stone farmhouse built in the 1860's, set in 9 acres of grounds, a peaceful rural location attracting varied birds & wildlife, a few hundred yards stroll through our woods is the River Dropt ideal for fishing. This is our home so is comfortably furnished and well maintained. It gives spacious living accommodation for 8 people. Complete with 11m x 5m pool with large sun-terrace perfect for relaxing and covered veranda for al-fresco eating, large lawned & wooded grounds perfect for a stroll, a game of boules, or relaxing in the shade under our 500 year old Oak tree. A short drive & you will be in one of the small villages close by providing many bars, restaurants, shops, various sporting activities, wine caves and of course the daily local markets. Night time markets in Eymet, Duras & other villages during the summer months. Well situated for visiting the historic towns of St.Emilion, Bordeaux, Bergerac, & Issigeac.

Moustier is situated between Duras and Miramont-de-Guyenne in La Vallee du Dropt. Equidistant are the villages of Duras, Eymet and Miramont. Close by for your early morning fresh bread and croissants are the village shops in Allemans-du-Dropt and La Sauvetat-du-Dropt. Further afield are Bergerac with its old town, markets, wine tasting and tobacco and wine museums and St. Emilion which has a beautiful open air eating area in the centre of town and of course also provides you with the chance to taste some of Bordeaux's finest wines. Ste.Foy le Grande situated on the River Dordogne with its riverside cafes, square, & old streets to amble amongst and a good assortment of shops is only a short drive away. We are 30 minutes from Bergerac (Roumaniere) Airport and 1hr 30minutes from Bordeaux (Merignac) Airport. Car hire is available at both Airports. Out & About in the region. : Places to Visit. We are well situated for visiting sights both inland and on the coast. Nearby are the Bastide towns of Duras and Eymet, Duras with its beautiful Chateau and panoramic views, Eymet with its pretty square, both favourites, medieval village of Monteton & historic village of Allemans-du-Dropt these are all close-by. Bastide towns of Miramont-de-Guyenne, Monsegur, Castillones, Issigeac and Monpazier are all only a short drive. About 2 hours drive, on the Atlantic Coast is the lovely town of Arcachon with its magnificient sand dunes and fabulous shops. Also of course the towns of Bordeaux & Bergerac. Fetes & Markets. Throughout the year these are plentiful. In particular the Fete du Vin in Duras (2nd weekend in August) where there is a display of Hot Air Balloons and Monsegur Swing (1st weekend in July) a 24hr Festival of Jazz, and of course Bastille Day celebrations 14th July. Local daily markets are part of life here and gives you chance to sample fresh local produce.

Activities and Restaurants.: Many leisure and sporting facilities are available, here are a few ideas. Golfing - on the many superb courses close-by. Canoing - either locally at Allemans-du-Dropt, or why not have a day out on the River Dordogne or the River Lot. There are plenty of places on these day trips to stop off and have that picnic lunch on the riverbank and a welcome swim. Fishing - a relaxing day fishing on our stretch of the River Dropt, where various different species can be caught. Barge Trips - on the River Garonne a beautiful way to see the countryside. Hot Air Ballooning - a wonderful experience. Quad Biking - an exciting time to be had by all. Wine tasting - a must while in the region. Restaurants - as you would expect many of them close-by offering good quality food and wine at various prices. These range from Pizzeria's, Creperie's, Traditional French Cafe's serving French Menu du Jour, Hotel and Table d'Hote Restaurants. Also numerous bars and cafes in the surrounding villages.

Au Mauvais is a lovely farmhouse, with wonderful grounds. You do need to have a car to appreciate all the wonders this area offers. And to reach the nearest small shops but this just added to the experience. You could of course just as easly spend your whole time using the pool and grounds. My children never wanted to leave the pool, and enjoyed exploring the woods and river found flowing through it.
The neighbouring villages of Eymet, Allemans and Monsegur are well worth a visit. But Duras was spectaular in particular the castle.

The numerous wine caves need to been seen many are just huge sheds in peoples gardens but do not let this put you off, the wines we sampled were some of the best and were very resonably prices.

We had a wonderful holiday at 'Au Mauvais'. The house was glorious, so much room, & everything we wanted was there - you have thought of everything! The children and parents loved the pool. We all had a marvellous time and can thoroughly recommend it..................

We had a lovely holiday in your house, I can honestly say it was the cleanest and most comfortable we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in quite a few!). I really wished I could pick the house up and bring it home. Everything was perfect!................

We had a lovely time, thank you. I particularly appreciated things like the nice bed linen, good pans, and smart cooker - maybe I'm just getting old! The girls were very impressed by the video collection. We all appreciated the spaciousness and general standard of comfort. The standard of cleanliness and freshness was excellent too - which really helps make it a holiday!................
