Colombe de Mathieu has two air-conditioned floors and a liveable area of 130 m². It has been furnished with great care. The secluded and private gîte lies on the banks of a brook in a heavily forested, hilly landscape. There is a unique, covered and heated swimming pool, the cover can be put totally aside so the pool is in the open air. You can swim the whole year around. The pool water is treated with active oxygen (no chlorine, no salt), so soft for your skin and friendly for the environment. Also available is an infra-red sauna. There is plenty of garden furniture and a gas-BBQ with lava stones. The gîte has its own lockable entrance and a private parking place.

Colombe de Mathieu lies in a little valley and is surrounded by heavily forested hills. Along the gîte lies a brook which is the natural border between Lot-et-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne, and yes, it is even the border between the regions Acquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées. The nearest village Bourg-de-Visa (1 km) houses a bank, a post office, a little supermarket, a bakery, a pharmacy and a tobacco store where you can by English newspapers. Within walking distance (250m) you can do horseback riding or visit the local restaurant. Lot-et-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne are known for their beautiful fortified hilltop villages (bastides). You will find them in Beauville, Lauzerte, Tournon-d'Agenais, Puymirol and Monflanquin. Interesting towns to visit are Agen, Villeneuve-sur-Lot (the biggest bastide of France) and Moissac with its famous monastery.

Smoking is not allowed on the first floor or in the bedrooms. The gîte is available from Saturday to Saturday, arrival from 16h and departure at 10h. Please leave the property clean and tidy. Quiet and greedy holidays!

We are a French family and we had marvellous holidays in this full equiped cottage. Swimming pool is great even if it's raining. Owners are lovely.

Fantastic Gite

We had a wonderful time at Colomobe de Mathieu. The house was lovely and had everything we needed, and the pool area was as good as you will find anywhere.

With three young children, the pool provided endless entertainment for our two weeks - when the waether wasn't so good, we simply pulled across the cover and had a great indoor pool. When the sun blazed, it became a perfect heat trap and outdoor swimming area. Throw in the various animals (rabbits, chickens, frogs) and the kids were in wonderland.

For the adults, there are plenty of beauthiful bastide towns nearby (car required), and the usual French mix of great food and wine. The owners were very friendly and unintrusive, and all in all a highly recommended place to stay.

Brilliant gite

The Gite was outstanding, it looks just as it does in the pictures, very well equipped and it contained every thing we required and more. It was immaculate.
The pool was fantastic, always warm enough for a comfortable swim and very spacious and well maintained.
The numerous varied seating areas outside the gite were well thought out with a spot for every occasion.
The owners were a great couple to rent from and are very friendly and helpful at every stage.
Our daughter enjoyed the horseriding available a few hundred yards from the gite and there were picturesque easy cycling tracks by the canal and boat hire,both within 30 mins of the gite.
We would thourouglly recommend this Gite and we had a great holiday .

Great place

The house was exactly as described. It was spotless and had every amenity. The owners were very nice, helpful and welcoming but respected our privacy. The pool was excellent (especially in October when the weather was not too warm and a little wet). Having rented properties for the last ten years, we can safely say this was the best.

A lovely holiday gite

We spent 3 weeks at Columbe de Mathieu in August 08. The gite was exactly as described. It is clean and well maintained, the decor, furnishings and equipment are of a high standard and we had a very, very good and comfortable holiday. The pool is fantastic, quite unlike anything we've experienced with other holiday accommodation. Local eating/shopping facilities are good. The owners are great, hospitable and ready to help if needed but respectful of others' privacy. All in all a great gite and we would recommend it very highly.
