The Bastides

Many of the surrounding villages are 'bastides'. These were specially built during the 100 years war by both the English and the French. They were designed to be easily defended in the event of attack and many remain almost as they were then. If you've seen a film about 'The 3 Musketeers' then the chances are, it was filmed in this area.

The Vineyards

Guinot Bas is very close to some of the most famous wine growing areas in the world. The vineyards of Bergerac are just 20 minutes away with their celebrated Monbazillac, Pecharmont and Saussignac wines. Duras is closer still. The Cahors vineyards are less than an hour away and famous appellations from the Bordeaux region such as Medoc, Graves, St. Emillion, Sauternes, Pomerol and Margaux to name but a few, could easily make a very enjoyable day trip complete with tastings.

Relaxing at Guinot Bas

When you've visited the ancient villages, taken in the colour and freshness of the local markets, whiled away an hour or two over a coffee or Pastis in one of the many cafes, maybe played a round of golf on one of the 3 local courses, wondered at the splendour of the Chateau or castles, been amazed by the architecture in Bordeaux or even played 'space-man' at the Citie de Space in Toulouse, you may be ready to relax by the pool at home. Lying on the private sun terrace around the pool, you could watch the antics of the many different birds, watch the sunflowers' cheerful faces and generally listen to the sounds of nature. Guinot Bas is a wonderfully peaceful, tranquil place to relax and unwind from the hurly burly of everyday life - as quiet and yet interesting as you wish to make it.
