OUR GITE is somewhere special to stay in this beautiful part of S.W. France. It is completely self contained and on one level, comfortably furnished and of open plan design with a fully equipped kitchen/living/dining area. L'oustal is on the outskirts of Sousceyrac, a quiet, medieval and typical French Village with all amenities and 15km east of St. Cere a picturesque area of the Lot. We have a large swimming pool set in south facing grounds of 1 acre backing on to fields and woods and situated between the verdant forests of Auvergne and the beautiful valley of the upper Dordogne. The gite is within walking distance of the village shops and amenities, also within a short driving distance are some of France's most beautiful villages and medieval towns. The Tolerme Lake is 8km away which offers fishing, bird watching and other water based activities. Other activities in the area include a golf course, 20km away and an equestrian centre only 15km away.

The Lot, the place that time forgot. This area of the Lot is of exceptional natural beauty and has much to offer for those wanting to have a real French holiday. Sousceyrac offers all you would wish to find on a day to day basis. There are two small self service general shops, bakers and petrol station. Tennis courts can be hired by the hour. There is also a bank with a cashpoint machine, a doctors surgery, pharmacy, post office and tourist office, restaurants and cafes. A market is held every second Wednesday of the month and there is a well attended local producers market every Sunday morning in July and August. There are also many local markets nearby, with a wide selections of fruit, pate, cheeses and other local produce. The superb countryside offers access to the Cantal Mountains, ancient caves, castles and many cliff top villages. The area is safe and quiet for lovers of walking and biking with many varied routes along roads and forest paths.

Notes: Our Gite is spacious and completely self contained and has a fully equipped kitchen/living/dining area of open plan design, large double bedroom ( a single bed or cot could also be added if required). There is the use of a washing machine, pool shower room and toilet. Outside there is a 12 x 5 metre pool, shared only with ourselves, a BBQ and garden furniture all within the secure grounds of 1 acre backing on to woodlands and fields and situated between the verdant forests of the Auvergne and beautiful valleys of the upper Dordogne. There is also the use of a small snooker table and ample secure car parking within the grounds. Bedlinen and towels are provided with the exception of swimming towels. L'Oustal is a very clean, comfortable, well maintained, gite with an excellent pool. The power shower is fantastic giving you a real wke-up call and the fullsized fridge freezer a great asset fot those co0oks amongst us. The very efficient cooker is calor gas so remember the matches. It was great to be in a village and within 2 minutes of the bar and bakery, (not to mention the pharmacy for the bite cream!) .The property was well descibed and accurately presented on the web site and we received a warm welcome with the all important bread and wine waiting.
The area is a great center for exploing the Northern Lot, the south of the Dordogne region and the western Cantal. Figeac (about 40 minutes drive away) provides an excellent Saturday market and is a very interesting town in which to follow the Tourist Office signed and descibed walk.

A peaceful gite

An immaculately clean and well equipped gite. The pool was warm and inviting especially during the 2 weeks of sunshine we experienced.

The surrounding scenery was very pretty and St Cere was a great town to explore especially the market.

The vegetables from Leo complemented our BBQ each night and the shops in the village provided all our essentials.

Very relaxing

Immaculately clean gite (lovely powerful shower). The garden/pool/patio is perfect. You could spend a whole week at the house and not want or need to leave it.

Sadly, the weather was not as sunny as we had hoped (although the clouds parted every evening!), but it made us go out and see so much of the local area which we would have otherwise missed.

We loved Lake Tolerme just down the hill, and ran or cycled a few laps every day. We visited Autoir and it's waterfall (walked to the top of it, and the bottom), and St Cere (and it's food shops!), Loubressac, and Rocamadour.

Thank you to Leo and his vegetable patch for the donations to our dinners. We ate outside every night. Because of the abundance of wonderful French food shops added to the vegetable patch donations, we found we much preferred picking up various bits and bobs locally and cooking for ourselves. Eating al fresco in the peace, quiet and space of Leo's wonderful garden was much better than any crowded restaurant terrace. We thoroughly recommend that, especially after working up an appetite after laps of Lac Tolerme!
