Pech Long is a beautiful and tranquil family home of two buildings, converted in 2005. Set on a hilltop 6km outside the thriving medieval market town of Figeac and only 45 minutes from Rodez Airport, it is surrounded by fields and woods with stunning views as far as 100 miles towards the Massif Central. The main barn sleeps up to 5 adults and a baby in 2 bedrooms and has a bathroom, newly fitted kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, satellite TV, DVD player, leather sofas and a large wood burning stove. The sechoir has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, sleeping 4 adults and a baby (the upstairs room is not full head height). All bedding, towels and cleaning are included in the price. The large landscaped garden has a patio area for outdoor dining and is child friendly with swings and new for 2008 is the private swimming pool and 8 seater Hot Tub. Pech Long offers peace, solitude and a wealth of local interest. For families, it is a great place for children of all ages.

In the main barn the living, dining and kitchen area is open plan and upstairs. The kitchen has a hob, oven, dishwasher and large fridge freezer. The dining table seats ten and the spacious lounge area has three sofas, a leather armchair and a wood burning stove. The satellite television is tuned to BBC channels and there is a DVD player and a CD player. A selection of books, board games, CDs and DVDs are available for your use. Downstairs are two bedrooms, a bathroom and utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. One bedroom has a double bed and the other has bunk beds and a single bed. The sechoir, with two main rooms, has a king size bed and en suite bathroom with shower, sink and loo. Upstairs on the upper level are two single beds (please note the this upper level does not have full headroom for adults but is perfect for children). New for 2008 is a private swimming pool (Apr-Oct) together with a top of the range 8 seater Hot Tub open all year.

Nearest Train: Figeac at 6 Kilometres

The local medieval town of Figeac has many cafes, restaurants, shops and a traditional market twice a week. There are churches, a museum and a giant Rosetta stone in honour of the Egyptology Jean-Francois Champollion, the translator of the stone who was born in Figeac. The town has an excellent outdoor swimming pool and children’s play park with trampolines, canoeing and crazy golf. Less than an hour's drive are the towns of Cahors, Rocamadour, Villefranche and Rodez. Rocamadour in particular is an ideal day trip with the picturesque town and chapel built into the cliffs. Attractions include a dinosaur theme park, grottos, a sound and light show, bird of prey centre and a monkey park. Half an hour from Figeac, Gramat is has an excellent maze and an animal park. Medieval caves and cave paintings abound in the area - most highly recommended is one which includes a boat ride. A number of organisations offer canoeing and rafting trips, cycle hire and horse riding.

Notes: As a family home, Pech Long is very child friendly. The property is fully fenced and gated, the garden has swings and a climbing ladder, and lots of room for children to run round and play. New for 2008 is a private swimming pool together with a top of the range 8 seater hot tub. There is also an inflatable baby paddling pool complete with sunshade, and outdoor games such as boule and a football. On request we can provide a high chair, stair gates, baby listening monitor, changing mat, travel cot and baby bath. Indoors are board games such as Risk and Cluedo, DVDs, books and the fallback of CBBC and CBeebies!

The stunning views from the property, the high standards of the accommodation and facilities, and the tranquillity are key features. The road is hardly used and only a handful of cars or tractors are seen each day. The wildlife is in close proximity with birds of prey circling around the fields and deer regularly seen.

Ski: There is a ski resort approx one hours drive from Pech Long

Other Activities: canoeing, pedaloes, crazy golf, trampolining and bouncy castles

Beautiful, spotlessly clean, with fantastic views. Having the pool and hot tub really made it special, all the family enjoyed our stay and we
will definitely be back next year. Having the extra sechoir barn, gave us all that little bit of extra privacy. We ate all our meals on the superb terrace, and popping into Figeac for its market, or simply sipping wine in the stunning square, really embodies why we love France. You can't beat it and the weather was superb too.
