La Tournelle is a traditional stone barn that has an unusual slate roof and impressive tower. Part of it has been meticulously restored to form a house and retains its old stone walls, lovely shaped windows, and decorative eaves fascia boards. It is situated in its own private garden within the owner's grounds and is in walking distance of the boulangerie, small grocery store, post office and tennis court. Guests have full use of the owners' grounds that have beautiful old trees and mature shrubs. Nearest main town: Moissac - 20 minutes.

Between these two are major towns including: Moissac: On the banks of the Tarn river this bustling town with lively weekend markets, is famous for its Romanesque Abbey and Cloisters. Valence d'Agen: A pretty town with a lovely fountainhead square. Originally a 1283 bastide, it has a good range of shops & restaurants and a 9 hole golf course nearby. Lauzerte: Nicknamed the Toledo of Quercy, its interesting square, which looks as if it's been turned up like a page of a book, sits in the centre of this lovely bastide village that has a choice of restaurants and shops.Montaigu-de-Quercy: Was the site of a 12c castle built by Raymond V of Toulouse. Now this atmospheric lively village has a range of local shops a typical French market each Saturday and a large leisure lake.

  • Stairs lead to the lst floor galleried landing. There are two bedrooms on this floor: a double with an en-suite shower-room with WC and \basin, and a twin bedroom. The bathroom has an antique cast-iron claw-foot bath and an independent shower and WC and basin. The second floor of the house is open plan with two low beams. One end of the room has a sitting area and the other end has twin beds. This room is basically a children's bedroom and it can get hot in summer months.

'What the owner says” 'Tournelle' means 'tower'. Our barn has a tower (with barn owls) and so we called it 'La Tournelle'. The sunflowers and maize framed in the Oeil-de-boeuf barn windows bring the countryside to the doorstep. The click of petanque balls and the smell of baking bread spell village life. For us, it's a magic combination.
