Welcome to Fraysse Haut, a secluded farmstead in 6 hectares of meadow and woodland in the pleasant rolling countryside above the Lot river valley between Puy l'Evêque and Montcabrier. Relax and unwind in rural surroundings. Fraysse Haut is ideal for walking holidays with several marked hiking trails, including the GR652 and the Montcabrier circuit, passing nearby. The owners, Sheila and Dan, live in the main house and are here to ensure you make the most of your holiday in the Lot. The self-catering gîte is a comfortable barn conversion featuring a spacious living/dining area and a new fitted kitchen. The main gîte is ideal for 2, but sleeps 4, and for 6-8 people there is a separate apartment in the tower (see Bedroom Notes). The gîte has under-floor heating and a wood burning fire for holiday accommodation in all seasons. The buildings surround a courtyard with a small garden with barbecue and various seating areas for relaxing in sunshine or shade.

Notes to the rental rates

• SPECIAL NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY & FESTIVE MEAL FOR 75 EUROS per person (including aperitif, wine, champagne, foie gras and other local specialties) in addition to advertised weekly rental. Limited to 6 people maximum. Reduced rate for couples. Mid-week booking and changeover possible to cover the holiday break. Flights (in winter) are to/from Bergerac/Stansted or via Toulouse.
  
• Payment in euros or UK pounds.
  Please read the bedroom/bathroom notes below.
  Electricity consumption is metered; you pay for what you use. Gas (for cooking) and water are included.
  Linen & towels are available.
  
• The Barn and the Tower are accessed through the archway from the courtyard but are separate buildings. The Tower is on two levels with a breakfast/living room (first floor) and bedroom with en-suite (top floor). The covered entrance at ground floor level is a sitting area with tables and chairs.

Walking Holidays and Special Interest Groups

Fraysse Haut is ideally situated for walking holidays as it is on the GR652, one of the long distance paths which cross France. A network of other hiking trails and waymarked tracks provide a variety of walks and scenery, some with fine viewpoints from the limestone cliffs overlooking the Lot river valley. Connection with the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostello is at Cahors. We offer an all-inclusive 1 week walking holiday with a programme of guided or unguided walks, which can be varied to suit all abilities. Cost €480 per person, available all year round. We can organise tailor-made walking holidays for groups and have welcomed charity and special interest groups for overnight stops. These include 3 cyclists en route from Spain to Britain, and 4 Camargue horses on their 3 month ride across France to a new home in the UK.

Airports

Toulouse at 150 kilometres is the nearest main international airport, but Bergerac at only 80 kilometres is now served by an increasing number of low cost airlines, including Ryanair, from several UK airports. The new airport at Brive (scheduled to start services from the UK in summer 2008) is within easy reach.
