Charming stone country cottage with spectacular views

Breathtaking views greet you as you drive down the rural lane, at the end of which you will find the property. The Cottage is a former farmhouse with the most spectacular views over farmland and woodland with no neighbours close by. This well equipped accommodation retains oak beams and many original period features but has been lovingly restored to provide very spacious and comfortable accommodation for 2 people. Sit in one of the armchairs in the upstairs window and look out over the garden to views beyond and enjoy the peace, and tranquillity. French door leads out onto a sunny south-facing terrace that is equipped with patio furniture and barbecue under the partial shade of a gazebo and cedar tree.

Mas del Pech is a tiny hamlet set on the boundary limits of Pinsac and St.Sozy communes. The hamlet is situated around 10 kilometres from the A20 Souillac exit number 55. Souillac and Martel, both market towns, are equidistant from the property at around 10 kilometres. Other towns within easy reach are Sarlat-la-Caneda, Brive-la-Gaillarde, Figeac, Cahors and Gourdon.

The Cottage

The property is set in a hectare with walnut and fruit trees. Many flowering shrubs have been planted and together with the wild flowers encourage butterflies that are so abundant around the property. The birdlife and wild flowers, including many species of native wild orchids are spectacular. Relax in the sun on the terrace and take in the peace and quiet or during the cooler months, sit indoors in front of the blazing woodburner and enjoy one of the many books from the bookcase. There are lots of walks around the property, two of which start from the property. There are two viewpoints within walking distance of the property which afford you the most stunning views of the Dordogne valley and limestone cliffs. For the more serious walkers, the GR 6 ('Grande Randonee') is a short distance away and you can walk for kilometres along this hiking trail.

Activities and Sightseeing

Local activities include canoeing down the Dordogne River, cycling down the small lanes passing fields of tobacco, maize, sunflowers or walnut trees. There are several swimming pools nearby at St.Sozy. Or go swimming from one of the prettiest beaches of the Dordogne and watch the dragon and damsel flies or the canoes drifting by. Two 18-hole golf courses are within 30 minutes drive. For sightseeing, you are close to many towns/villages of interest - Rocamadour, Sarlat, Martel; prehistoric limestone caves at Pech Merle, Lacave, Lascaux. There are numerous restaurants from ‘Ferme Auberge’ to Chateaux and Michelin Star classified ones offering lots of the local gastronomic delights. Colourful, local markets on most days of the week should wet your appetite for fresh local foods. The vineyards of Cahors and Bergerac are not too far away for the more serious wine lovers or try the local ‘Coteaux de Glanes’ for easy drinking!

Wonderful 10th visit. 3 weeks are much more relaxing! Bob and Susan; Thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd visit. Company great, thank you for everything; already planning our next visit. Gareth and Diane; Two wonderful weeks. We wanted peace and quiet;we found both. Very comfortable cottage in idyllic surroundings. Wish we could stay longer. We will next time. John and Joyce..... We have found a little 'peace' of heaven right here on earth. Adrienne and Tony; What a superb spot you have here! We've had a really relaxed and comfortable stay. We would love to return.
