Le Petit Soyc is an idyllic private escape from every day life, ideal for families or parties of up to six. As the cottage is surrounded by fields and woodland, the large (10m x 5m) fenced pool and terrace are very private and capture the sun day long. Inside, the 18th century stone cottage has been sympathetically converted to create three luxurious bedrooms (1 double and 2 twins) each with en-suite facilities, and an open-plan living area with well equipped kitchen. The focus of the living area is naturally the large open fireplace.

Away from it all in the hills of the French Midi-Pyrenees between Montauban and Cahors. Very private pool and terrace with the nearest neighbours 500m away. The pool has been fenced for the 2004 season to comply with the new French safety regulations applying to all rental properties. The cottage is surrounded by fields on all sides. Toulouse airport is approximatley 1 hours drive, and a car is essential. Local shops are 10 minutes drive away and Cahors and Montauban hypermarkets (and traditional markets) about 30 minutes drive.

Additional Information: Located amongst peaceful rolling hills, yet only 57 miles from Toulouse airport, or a days drive from the channel ports of Caen or St Malo. The historic cities of Cahors and Montauban are both within half an hours drive, with many smaller historic towns and bastides closer. For the mildly energetic, apart from the large secluded and illuminated swimming pool, Croquet, Table Tennis, Badminton and Boules sets are provided. Golf and Tennis are available nearby. For the less energetic, sunloungers, backgammon, playing cards, a hammock and the barbecue will suffice, with shaded areas available outside as well as lots of sun terrace.

Le Petit Soyc: tranquil and family-friendly

Just back from two weeks at Le Petit Soyc, and we are already eager to book again for next year. With two small children, we found the gite to be very family-friendly, with an excellent pool properly fenced, which gave great peace of mind. The children could play outside happily on their own in the shaded pergola, and there was plenty of space for ball games, boules, badminton etc, equipment for which all provided. In such a tranquil setting, we barely heard a car, and spent days just lazing about in the hot sun. Plenty to do within easy driving reach, including pleasant self-contained nearby town Castelnau with good cafe and small market. The house itself felt spacious and cool, well equipped in the kitchen and very clean on arrival, while keeping farmhouse character. Lots of different country views to admire when dining outside. All in all, we had an extremely enjoyable stay!

We had a wonderful time at Le Petit Soyc - The accommodation was clean, spacious and cool and the variety of outside areas were all used to either catch or avoid the sun where necessary. The fenced pool and terrace were perfect in the heat wave we were lucky enough to have in August. There is a good selection of outdoor and indoor games and local information available - we used the badminton racquets and net for daily tournaments. We did not travel much as we enjoyed staying at the house relaxing, reading and playing hide and seek and also found that bike rides around the local area were very good as the roads are so quiet. It was great to have fresh plums and grapes on tap from the garden and to eat the local melons and we found that the local supermarket at Vaserac supplied all our needs. As a quiet get away from it all - two adults two children - family holiday we had no complaints and would definately consider coming back again

We had a wonderful, relaxing 2 weeks at Le Petit Soyc. The location was very peaceful. The cottage was as described and very clean on arrival. The pool was lovely and a welcome relief from the heat of the sun, as was the pergola. We didn't eat out, preferring to cook with the local produce, drinking wine and enjoying the warmth of the evening. I would certainly recommend this to family and friends and we would definitely like stay again.

The cottage is very much in the middle of the French countryside and not suited to everybody's taste however, if you want to get away from it all this is definitely the place to come where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the local wine. A car is essential to enable you to visit the many historical towns and villages. Driving was a pleasure - the country roads are really quiet even in the middle of August. We as a family with teenagers appreciated the fact that we could go out exploring and then return to enjoy the sun and pool. If you want to go out for an evening meal you have to expect to drive out. The new local supermarket in Vazerac is able to supply the essentials along with local produce.
Cahors, Moissac and Montauban are well worth a visit where life is a bit more lively!
We enjoyed the holiday and would be happy to return.

We were more than pleased with our stay. The accommodation was accurately described with plenty of space for our party of three couples. Very peaceful with just the occasional bark from distant dogs. As birdwatchers we were not disappointed with a good variety of sightings, some at very close proximity. We did not go out for meals, just using the cooking facilities at Le Petit Soyc and on occasions the barbeque. We loved the pool it was used every day and so was the fridge in the pool house which we stocked up with beer and icecream!
We vwet to St Cirq Lapopie and Cahors on the same day. we had been to both before but we thought they deserved another visit. Mollieres was really lovely with canal and river, also the grape fayre. Plenty of other places to go to all with something to offer. The scenery was constantly wonderful.
