Maison Fleurie offers an unrivalled combination of character, homely comfort, peace and utter seclusion with ready access to cafes, restaurants and shops. A home at the centre of all you could desire and yet as quiet as the countryside. In the heart of an ancient citadel, the house retains its medieval character with modern convenience. Décor is soft and understated. Fully tiled showers boast powerful thermostatic delivery. Bedrooms have supportive mattresses, soft pillows, and best quality linen. The kitchen is equipped for a discerning cook. The house looks onto the spectacular gorge of the Aveyron river. Alongside is an adjoining private courtyard with unshared sunken circular heated pool, four metres across, typically heated to 25C during season. In another garden there are dining table, chairs and sun beds for six. Take the sun to the chime of the village clock, doze in the shade, float on water - or just enjoy a short stroll in some of the nation’s most fabulous scenery!

The ancient midi-Quercy region has a mosaic of natural topographies. It is a land of stone, water, gorges, valleys, lakes, river plains and forests, bathed in sunlight and full of colour at all times of the year. Vineyards and orchards colour the countryside, and in the markets the air is filled with the smell of apples, plums, peaches and melons. There are many farms and vineyards to visit where visitors can sample local food and wine produce. Activities nearby include swimming, canoeing, kayaking, walking, golf, fishing, caving, rock-climbing and riding - as well as museums and places of historical and cultural interest to visit. Standing-stones, dolmens and rock caverns all attest to human occupation since Paleolithic times. Medieval churches, temples, castles, walled towns, chapels, abbeys and perched cliff side villages wait to be discovered.   • There is a supplementary charge of £50 per week for parties of six adults in July and August. Prices include gas, electricity, pool heating, basic foodstuffs, shower mats, hand towels, personal towel sets, bed linen, and a full clean before and after your stay. There are no hidden extras. A 30% deposit is payable on booking; the balance is due eight weeks before the commencement of your holiday. Full terms and conditions of booking will be sent by email on request.

  • For both bathrooms there is ample hot water, impeccably clean high quality ceramics and multi-position shower hand sets. The downstairs bathroom has a fully tiled 600 x 700 mm shower with curtain. There is also a toilet and large washbasin, two double towel rails, mirror, blown air heating and shaver point. A baby bath can be made available if required. Personal towel sets, hand towels and shower mats are provided, as are bathroom cleaning products.

  • On the top floor, there are two double bedrooms. One has a double bed and an 800mm concealed en-suite shower, fully tiled with glass door and powerful thermostatic delivery. The second bedroom has twin single beds. The beds have supportive mattresses, soft pillows and good quality linen. Both bedrooms have access on this level to a separate cloakroom with mirror cabinet, toilet and small wash basin. There is a large electrically heated towel rail and shaver point. The long first floor living room has screen dividers which will, if needed, create a completely private sleeping area with two single futons and access to downstairs bathroom facilities independent of the upstairs bedrooms.

Notes: The house entrance is only two minutes walk from free and secure car parking. Outside in 200sq metres of prettily planted courtyard gardens is a covered barbeque, level access heated pool, garden lighting and sun loungers. The building is warm and cosy out of season, and deliciously cool at the height of summer. There is newly fitted carpet throughout. Soft furnishings are of a high quality, living room furniture is comfortable and capacious. The fully equipped kitchen includes sharp knives, food processor, spices, dried and fresh herbs, oil, salt, pepper flour and sugar. All electrical appliances are up to date and tested annually. Cleaning agents and waste bags are provided. Overall standards of care could not be higher. More than a holiday 'gite' this is a properly equipped, thoroughly comfortable home, suitable for both short and long term occupation.

A terrific find!

What a great place to stay. A fantastic welcome from the owners who were extremely helpful, and a lovely town and area to explore. We loved the house, and so did our two teenage girls. Despite it being October and getting cool, they made good use of the pool. Our only problem was that we couldn't stay longer.

Thanks again for providing such a comfortable and peaceful house for our holidays. We very much appreciated the care you and Sue take to provide and maintain everything to such a high specification and standard. I think the actuality exceeds the hopes raised as we read the descriptions and looked at the photos on the website. In particular, we were very impressed that although the house is right in the centre of the town, the house, garden and pool are in total seclusion, privacy and quietness. It really is only a few minutes to reach any part of the town, yet you have the views of the gorge from the windows.

A Heavenly Retreat!

We chose Maison Fleurie because of its charming description and photos, and were so pleased that it
lived up to all expectations. It is a wonderfully serene
cottage that truly steals your heart! We loved cooking
our own dinners in the nice kitchen and dining on
the beautiful terrace surrounded by the scent of jasmine,
listening to the coo of the doves on the rooftops.
Steve and Sue have provided a nice selection of CDs for
relaxing in the comfortable living room. The morning
view of the cliffs from the bedroom window is breathtaking.

The town of St Antonin becomes more fascinating with
every street you explore. The shops, though few, are
very quaint, and the bakery and butcher shop are
genuinely top notch. The Sunday market is fabulous!

We felt this was a most authentic experience of living
in the heart of a village. St Antonin has not been spoiled by the efforts to renovate its ancient buildings and has saved the rural character that makes it so special.
Sightseeing opportunities in the surrounding area are astounding. Don't miss the Corniche Drive to Bruniquel or the meandering road to St Cirq Lapopie!

Steve and Sue are superb hosts who truly aim to please.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful and memorable holiday. Maison Fleurie certainly was the highlight of our travels throughout France. The authentic, cosy, well-maintained and homely feel was superb; everything we read describing the property and surrounding area was totally accurate…it’s absolutely a picture perfect setting. The home had everything we needed right down to the last detail, and we really experienced a great sense of genuine hospitality.
We hope to come back again soon and have already recommended this to family and friends. We are truly grateful for such a perfect holiday that we will always remember.
