Cordes and the Cerou Valley:
La Metayerie de la Borie Grande is only a few minutes drive from the shops, bars, restaurants and Saturday market at the picturesque hill town of Cordes. At the heart of the bastides region, Cordes is famous for its historic buildings, medieval festivities and summer music festival. Cordes overlooks the tranquil, rural valley of the Cerou river.

Nearby are other charming and ancient hill towns, the picturesque vineyards of Gaillac, the wooded uplands of the Gresigne forest, and the beautiful gorges of the Aveyron, with the celebrated Sunday market at St Antonin. There are numerous country restaurants serving many gastronomic delights. It is only a 20 minute drive to the fine medieval city of Albi with its stunning cathedral, magnificent Toulouse Lautrec museum and charming streets of both quaint and modern shops.

In addition to swimming (and tennis on the estate), there is canoeing on the Aveyron river, an 18 hole golf course at Albi, and a range of sports at the new Cap Decouverte leisure complex. There are numerous country walks.
