La Metayerie de la Borie Grande is located on a tranquil estate and has superb views of the historic bastide of Cordes and the surrounding hills and woodlands.This fully restored house is comfortably equipped with antique furnishings and modern fittings. The private courtyard and garden of La Metayerie are complemented by its own swimming pool (6.50m by 4m) and shared use of the tennis court of the Borie Grande estate. The shops and restaurants of Cordes are within a few minutes drive. Other local attractions include historic castles and towns, canoeing, street markets, art exhibits, vineyards, and local theatre.

La Metayerie, located on the tranquil estate of La Borie Grande, has a private entrance reached by a countrylane which continues down to the Cerou river, 200m beyond. This fully restored, stone-built house is bounded by open fields and former farm buildings. It comprises some 200m2 of living space and is comfortably equipped with antique furnishings and modern fittings. It is a homely and tranquil setting for relaxed holidays for friends and families.

  • All prices are per week Saturday 15.00 hours to Saturday 11.00 hours. The farmhouse must be left on departure in the same clean condition as found on arrival or a post departure full cleaning service is available at a cost of 150 euros
  • The price includes the cost of water gas and firewood.
    There is electric heating throughout and electricity charges are included in the price except from November to April inclusive.
  • A security deposit of €750 is required when booking. The full rental must be paid on arrival. The security deposit less any damages or breakages will be returned on the departure date after inventory.

Cordes and the Cerou Valley: La Metayerie de la Borie Grande is only a few minutes drive from the shops, bars, restaurants and Saturday market at the picturesque hill town of Cordes. At the heart of the bastides region, Cordes is famous for its historic buildings, medieval festivities and summer music festival. Cordes overlooks the tranquil, rural valley of the Cerou river.

The area: Nearby are other charming and ancient hill towns, the picturesque vineyards of Gaillac, the wooded uplands of the Gresigne forest, and the beautiful gorges of the Aveyron, with the celebrated Sunday market at St Antonin. There are numerous country restaurants serving many gastronomic delights. It is only a 20 minute drive to the fine medieval city of Albi with its stunning cathedral, magnificent Toulouse Lautrec museum and charming streets of both quaint and modern shops.

Activities: In addition to swimming (and tennis on the estate), there is canoeing on the Aveyron river, an 18 hole golf course at Albi, and a range of sports at the new Cap Decouverte leisure complex. There are numerous country walks.

From the photos i believed the property to be detached but it isn't. I also thought the pool was bigger and better so i was dissapointed. The garden was scruffy and ill kept but the house was beautifully decorated and comfortable although not enough cooking utensils for our party of six although i feel that if i needed to borrow anything from the charming owners they would have eagerly obliged. The owners live next door and provide b&b and evening meals for their guests. They are lovely and are keen to make your stay happy.
The area is beautiful; the top of Cordes being the place for tourists, the bottom is good for everyday stuff (use the bakery next to the pharmacy). Cap decouvert, the open mine converted into an exceptional resort is amazing value: they charged us 70 euros for 3 adults and 3 teens, 16 and under, for the whole day.
