Unforgettable family holidays with a personal touch
La Fontaine offers family orientated self-catering holidays year-round as we are ideally situated for both summer pursuits and winter sports. We're proud of our highly personalised service, which includes many on-site activities for children: pony rides, games room with table tennis, plunge pool, nature treks, arts & crafts and so much more. For parents, we can help by suggesting places of interest and have a number of 'daytrip packs' which include maps, an itinerary and all the information you need for a memorable day out. We offer free babysitting and can book and even drive you to restaurants, arrange discounted ski hire, do your shopping before you arrive, lend you cloth nappies (reducing the amount of luggage you have to pack), in fact anything to make your stay a relaxing, memorable one. Despite this attention to detail, our prices are all-inclusive, so there'll be no nasty surprises over bedding, towels, electricity, baby equipment, etc.

Aigues-Vives is a small village with remarkably good access to a variety of landscapes and attractions. Within easy reach of beaches, ski resorts, and too many activities to mention, the immediate local area also includes many attractions such as lakes, walks, villages and markets. Toulouse 1.25hrs, Carcassonne 50mins, Narbonne 1.45hrs, Mirepoix 10mins, Lavelanet 10mins. The local climate lends itself to holidays at other times of year - not just summer and winter. September to November is generally balmy and dry; perfect for holidays exploring this fascinating region. The winter season (January to March) allows us to offer good access to the ski slopes without being stuck in a resort, so family members can pursue their own interests or swap activities.

Personalised service, our speciality!
However you choose to spend your time on holiday, we aim to ensure that La Fontaine exceeds your expectations in every way. We can organise children's activities on-site every morning, offer suggestions for days out, restaurants, local events ... indeed anything you need! The recurring theme from our guestbook is our attention to detail and helpfulness. Whatever your time of arrival, we can be there to greet you and show you around. We can collect you from one of the local airports (contact us to discuss this), and can arrange to do some basic shopping for you, so that you don't have to immediately go out again. If you arrive in winter, we'll have the stove going to make sure that the house is warm and welcoming. We have three bilingual children of our own, who are willing and available to introduce your boys and girls to the local 'hot-spots'. We include one evening of babysitting with the rental price, and further evenings are available by arrangement.
Accommodation:
'La Fontaine' is part of a 200 year-old farmhouse, once belonging to the village mayor. The building has been restored to provide modern standards (double glazing, etc.) whilst retaining an old 'feel'. The accommodation is split over 3 floors and covers some 150 sq.m (over 1600 sq.ft) with a further 45 sq.m private terrace. The ground floor is open-plan and includes a lounge with TV, video and DVD, a dining area big enough for 10 people, and a well equipped kitchen. Stairs lead up to the first floor, where you will find the main bathroom with its hydro-therapy shower, a separate WC and two double bedrooms. The rooms are furnished with genuine period or antique furniture and each have their own distinct style. The stairs continue to the top floor which has a further two large bedrooms, these designed for children or single guests. There is also a WC / washroom and a laundry room up here.

Skiing Information:
La Fontaine is 45 minutes drive from the nearest ski resort of Les Monts d'OImes. The road up is usually well cleared, but it is normally recommended to have a set of snow-chains in the car. There is a mini-bus shuttle which leaves the bottom of the road (3 minutes' walk) and drops off at the ski resort which runs morning, lunchtime and evening. Les Monts d'Olmes is a family-orientated resort with a good selection of green, blue and red runs, and one black. There is good provision for both skiers and snowboarders and this year they have installed a spanking new chair lift. We can arrange a discount off equipment hire, and there is a ski school for children which runs during the school holidays which we can book you into. A little further afield (just over an hour) is Ax 3 Domaines which is a much bigger resort, but also more expensive, and Andorra is also within reach (about an hour and a half).

We've really enjoyed our holiday here. The surrounding area is beautiful and full of places to visit and things to do. Rennes-les-Bains, Lac Montbel, endless castles, Carcassonne is amazing, we've even had a day at the Med. La Fontaine is a great base to explore from. It is very well equipped, spacious and comfortable accommodation. Oliver and Jacqueline go that extra mile to make your stay exactly what you want it to be. Will definitely be recommending La Fontaine to family and friends.
