A Perfect Rural Retreat .

This gite lived up to all expectations, and surpassed some. It is in a very tranquil, rural situation with no noise except bird-song. There's plenty of room inside for two couples or a family, and has spacious outdoor areas for eating or resting. One of our party is handicapped and the fact that all our accommodation was on one level was ian important point in choosing this gite, though there are 3 steps to the front door. It is well appointed , clean and well maintained. Joy and Graeme are a delightful couple, very welcoming and informative. A particular highlight was Joy's evening meals. I doubted whether they would live up to the comments from previous visitors but was delighted that they were every bit as good as mentioned. We enjoyed them many times in our stay and had no need to look for other eating places. The quality of food, some from their own garden, the high standard of cuisine and the amazing value cannot be stressed too much.
We loved the many medieval villages and castles within easy reach-Belcastle,Conques, Najac, Figeac,St. Cirq la Poppie, to mention just a few.If you wish to see genuine cave paintings-mammoths, horses cave bears, bison-don't miss the caves at Peche Merle. An excellent situation for bird watchers-black redstart, kites, eagles ,buzzards, vultures etc.
If you go at the end of May, don't miss the transhumance fetes, when the cattle are taken up to the high land of the Causses- a wonderful and unusual spectacle.
We had a superb holiday and would wholeheartedly recommend it to those who like rural, unspoilt France.
