Our farmhouse dates from 1881 and retains its original features (stonework, exposed oak beams, bread oven). We are situated deep in the Aveyron countryside, 500 metres from our nearest neighbour, with a 2 acre south facing garden and fantastic views across the surrounding countryside. The gite is an annexe to the main farmhouse and has two comfortable, bright bedrooms with fabulous views across the garden and valley beyond. The large open plan lounge/dining area with fully equipped kitchen was once a barn and retains its high ceiling and exposed oak beams. All the accomodation is on one level so is especially suitable for children or the elderly. There is a private terrace with garden furniture and barbecue and our 2 acre garden is yours to explore - play a game of boules or table tennis, pick some blackberries, feed the donkeys or just sit with a glass of local wine and watch the sun go down.

Notes to the rental rates

• Quoted rates are for 3/4 persons. A supplement of £55 per week will be added for 5/6 persons. A reduction of £30 per week is given for 2 persons requiring only one bedroom.
  Rates include all bed linen, towels (not beach towels) and electricity.
  
• There is a heating supplement of £25 per week during low season. A cleaning supplement/deposit of £25 will be added to the rental price. This is returnable 10 days after the end of the rental period if the gite is left cleaned and tidy. Security deposit of £100 is required on arrival. This is returnable 10 days after the end of the rental period provided there is no damage or breakages.

Garden and Games

Part of our 2 acre garden is looked after by our donkeys Marius, Sophie and baby Josephine, the rest is ours and yours to explore. There are lots of areas around the garden where you can just sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down or if you’re feeling more energetic, play some table tennis table or have a game of boules. We also have a play area for children.

Local Area

Within 20 minutes... enjoy the sights, sounds and smells at one of France’s largest weekly markets in the bastide town of Villefranche-de-Rouergue, catch a glimpse of the wolves at the Pradinas wildlife park, or go for a swim at the pool in Rieupeyroux or Rignac or the lake at Privezac. Within 40 minutes... spot the gargoyles at the cathedral in Rodez, sample the local wine at Marcillac, dress up for the annual medieval festival in Cordes-sur-ciel or just relax on the beach at the lake of Pont-de-Salars. Within an hour... visit the Toulouse Lautrec museum in the cathedral town of Albi, follow the pilgrim route to the magnificent Romanesque abbey at Conques or visit one of France's most beautiful villages at St Cirq Lapopie. We are under an hour and a half from the spectacular Millau viaduct.

Local Activities

With the 3 great rivers of the Lot, Tarn and Aveyron and the mountains of the Grand Causses, the Aveyron department is a paradise for outdoor sports and activities. Within easy reach of the house there are a number of signposted walks, we are just 10 minutes from the Aveyron river for fishing and canoeing and Rodez and Albi both have 18 hole golf courses. Further afield, Millau is a mecca for adventure activities - bungee jumping, paragliding, hang-gliding, rock climbing and rafting.
