Farmhouse with pool in secluded valley near Martel, Dordogne Valley

A former farmhouse complete with a large fully fenced seven metre round swimming pool with uninterrupted views of the countryside, Le Ségala is a comfortable holiday home in this unspoilt area of France. Sympathetically renovated, the house retains its oak beams and flagstone kitchen floor. There are four double bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen/dining room plus a 'four au pain'. The large garden is a great place to play boule or badminton, enjoy a barbecue or eat out under the trees - or simply a place to relax with a book and a glass of wine. The swimming pool overlooks the valley and more than four acres of walnut and fruit trees. The area is synonymous with Rocamadour, Plus Beaux Villages, caves, the Dordogne, fortified villages, and medieval architecture and offers something for all the family - riding, walking, swimming, paragliding, ballooning, canoeing, golf, tennis and much much more. Nestling in the beautiful Rionnet valley in the Haut Quercy, this area of the Northern Lot is close to the Correze border and about twenty minutes from the N20 motorway. Our nearest village is Les Quatre Routes du Lot and Martel is just 6kms away. It is an ideal base for visitors wishing to visit the Dordogne, Lot and Cele valleys as well as the Limousin and the Auvergne. Limoges is just over an hour away and Toulouse just over two hours away. The new Brive-Souillac airport due to open in 2008 is just twenty minutes from Le Segala. Sarlat, Bergerac, Albi and the Perigord are all good days out. The famous caves of Lascoux and Peche Merle are within a hour too. There is a swimming beach on the Dordogne just ten minutes away and hiring a canoe is easy nearby. Serious cyclists and walkers alike love the varied terrain - but there is plenty of places for those who prefer to take it more gently. Great area for bird watching - buzzards, red kite etc abound.

There are public golf courses at about half an hours drive. Water ski-ing and lake side activites are also about half an hour away.

In the ski season it is possible to take a train from the nearest station to the ski slopes. The ticket includes the ski pass for the day. Get back on the train when the light goes and be home fo dinner!
