relaxing countryside and much to do
Review Submitted: August 11, 2010
Date of Stay: July 2010
We are a family of five; children 9,7 and 3 years old. We have stayed twice (2008 + 2010) for a fortnight a Moulin de Parrot and we all want to come back again.
Our reasons: The mill is quite, clean and spacious. There is a warm welcome, no bad smell inside, there is more than enough equipement in the kitchen, the shower is hot, the beds or ok. Furniture and decoration are chosen with love. No ugly plastic furniture next to the mill. There are many nice places to sit inside and outside. You find sunny and shadow places. You remember the owners are spending a lot of work and money in the mill. We liked to have breakfast on the balcony and watch the river and we liked to sit next to the millpond and watch the frogs, too.
The pool is large, clean and doesn´t smell like chlorine. You smell lavender and peppermint which are growing next to the pool. The poolkeeper is friendly and quite.
The river is nice for playing. In June water has been very cold and up to 1m deep and in July much warmer and only about 50 cm deep. Shoes for the water would be clever.
What we have done: swiming in the pool, catching crayfishes and trouts, building dams in the river, spotting butterflys, beetles, birds, frogs and many more, using pocket-knifes, walking around the woods and next to the river, playing puzzles, cards, socker, badmington, nice cooking. In fact probably all little things you can do at home but there's normaly no time. Trips to Conques, Albi Rodez, Belcastel, Millau Cordes which takes about one hour each way.
Requista is about six minutes by car and not very interesting but you get all you need in a very good quality. I wished we would have such a supermarket, green-grocer, bakery and butcher in my hometown.
Price: Much money but not expensive at all for all the things you'll find. Worth every penny.
Contact to the owners: warm, quick, correct. The homepage is very honest.
What we have missed: Only German or English magazines in the newspaper-shop at Requista. And a real Italian espressomachine would be the spot on the "i" for us.
Thanks a lot you let us stay in your mill, Babara and Gavin. We are sure to come back again. There's still enough to explore.
