Set in the heart of this pretty historical village, small narrow streets lead to our beautiful shuttered stone house. Wander around the small hub of sleepy streets to capture the charm of village life. Step out of the old quarters and find the locals amongst the bakeries, butchers, grocer stores, newsagents and local bars and restaurants. All is within walking distance and 5 minutes will take you to the river Lot. Cajarc has a 'plan d'eau' or jetty with its own pleasure boat offering river trips in the summer, there are tennis courts and a lovely outdoor swimming pool also in the village. Our stone house is spacious, airy and comfortably furnished. It features, entrance way, well equipped modern fitted kitchen, large oak beamed dining room and living room, also with log fire. The two double bedrooms are large with one also having bunk beds and each having character fireplaces. There are books, games, puzzles and a picnic hamper. Makes for a nice stay out of season too.

Cajarc is a vibrant village situated on the river Lot. 1hr from Cahors and 30min from Figeac, the nearest town. Cajarc is situated in the Cause de Quercy and Pays Quercy Rouergue- areas of outstanding natural beauty. The drive from Cajarc to Cahors following the river Lot is spectacular, with small hill top villages perched unto the rocky cliffs over hanging the river. The scenery is dramatic and stunning. On route is St Cirq LaPopie, one of France's most beautiful villages with its ancient buildings. Cahors is a mediaval market town famous for its arched bridges and renowned for its wine. 1 hr north from Cajarc is Rocamadour and the caves 'gouffre de Padirac ' The countryside is vast with fields of tobacco, sunflowers, and strawberries. Cajarc is the ideal base for exploring the beauty, history and gastronomic delights of the Lot region. Medieval villages, colourful markets, prehistoric caves and wonderful countryside for walking, cycling, riding, canoeing and fishing.

Notes: The family room with 2 childs beds are bunk beds. Bed linen and kitchen linen is provided but we ask you to bring your own towels. Electricity is included in the price. As the house is situated in the hub of the old quarters, we don't have a terrace. However, as there is only one other house on this narrow street (and that house isn't close to the stone house either), you can put chairs outside, to enjoy the sunshine and to have a drink. The few passer-bys will only be the odd local (who are incidentally very friendly) and other visitors looking around the old part of the village. There is plenty of free parking only 50m from the house and larger free car parks. It is also possible to unload the car close to the house, if need be. Sorry no smoking and no pets.

About Cajarc: In addition to the shops already mentioned, Cajarc also has a pharmacy, petrol garage, small supermarket and a tourist information center. Every Saturday afternoon there is the local market. The 'maison des guides' on the jetty, as well as organising canoeing and kayaking offers caving, rock climbing and abseiling activities during July and August. In the summer months the village is a buzz of activity offering some form of entertainment every weekend during July and August. It is famous for its Africajarc music festival usually held on the last weekend of July for 4 days. The first weekend of August is the 'fete de Cajarc' with displays of petanque, folklore sketches, bands, carnival and a fairground. In October, Cajarc hosts the saffron festival. We are open in the winter too, which provides a more tranquil, slow paced, relaxing break, but with all the amenities provided for, in the village.

Getting there: Ryan Air fly London Stanstead to Rodez (40min from Cajarc). EasyJet fly Bristol to Toulouse. From Toulouse its 120km to Cajarc (2hours from Cajarc). Easy Jet fly London Gatwick to Toulouse.

Other Activities: canoeing, caving, rock climbing, abseiling
