This beautiful 18th century farmhouse, set in a picturesque village 400 metres from the river Dordogne, is an ideal base from which to explore the Lot and Dordogne valleys and renowned sites such as Sarlat, Rocamadour and Lascaux, and many villages classified as the 'Most beautiful villages' of France. The house has been tastefully renovated and is perfect for a large family or two families sharing - each bedroom has its own bathroom and WC. All shops, supermarkets, bike hire, golf and tennis are available in nearby Souillac, a lively town with a twice-weekly market full of local produce (5 km). Canoes can be hired from the village and all along this part of the Dordogne valley. Sarlat is only 30 km away, and Rocamadour 16 km. The region is famous for its gastronomy and there is a wide selection of good restaurants in the locality. The house benefits from a large covered terrace for al fresco dining overlooking the swimming pool, with a large hammock for siestas and table tennis.

This is one of the most historically interesting areas of France and all the major attractions are within a short drive from the house. The banks of the river Dordogne have been inhabited since prehistoric times and the area played centre stage to many of the rivalries of the middle ages. The medieval towns of Sarlat, Rocamadour, Domme, Martel, Beynac and Castelnaud with their castles, picturesque markets and restaurants, are all within a short drive. The suspended gardens of Marqueyssac, the Padirac Abyss or the cave paintings of Lascaux are all worth a visit. The surrounding countryside offers many opportunities for walking, cycling and fishing. The banks of the river Dordogne can easily be reached by foot from the house for swimming and canoeing.

Linen (bed sheet and bath towel) are available for hire - 15 Euros per person per stay. Baby cot and high chair available on request. The caretaker and housekeeper live in the village and will greet you on arrival. They will also take care of the swimming pool maintenance during your stay, and should you wish to have a mid-stay cleaning, this can be arranged on request (50 euros - available only on 2 week stays)

Fantastic getaway in the heart of Dordogne

Pictures do not do this property justice - nestled amongst a quiet village this spacious 4 bedroom (all en-suite) farmhouse offers the perfect location to explore the region. Canoeing, walking, swimming are all at your doorstep along with top restaurants within short driving distance. The house itself is well maintained and is decorated tastefully. Help is always at hand as the property managers live around the corner and are more than willing to provide assistance in any way they can. If the only activity you are interested in is sitting back and relaxing this property has a decent size swimming pool along with a covered dining / relaxing area (coupled with a very comfortable hammock!). I would not hesitate recommending this property and hope to revisit it again in the near future.
