Situated near the village square and church in the heart of a quiet picturesque rural village, 4km from Maubourguet (market town) in the south west of France. This classical French house has at different times been the village Mairie, the local school and laterly an out-building was the village blacksmith’s. The house has four bedrooms, bathroom and shower room, and is an ideal location for a families or groups of 8, 9 with the cot occupied. Comfortable spacious accomodation with enclosed grounds that keep children in if required. The pool area can also be secured. The village is situated on flat ground which makes cycling easy but has a forest that offers a challenge for the mountain bikers amongst you. The location is ideal for activities such as cycling, painting, reading, walking, relaxing and for doing as much or as little as you want. Maubourguet has a weekly market every Tuesday, supermarkets, shops, post office and bank as well as pubs and restaurants. Pau- 45kms (RYANAIR)

The village is quiet and in the middle of farmland in the Val L'Adour and has two rivers nearby. It is situated in the heart of ancient Gascony at the north end of the Hautes Pyrenees area. Maubourguet is the nearest market town. Only ten miles from Marciac, which is famous for its annual Jazz festival. The surrounding gently rolling countryside with picturesque farms and spectacular views are ideal for the artists among us. An hour from the Pyrenees, a good base for cyclists wanting to try the Col de Tourmalet, white water rafting in the summer snowsports in the winter The Spanish border within two hours and St Jean De Luz, Bairitz and the beaches are all drivable in an hour and a half for day trips, as is Toulouse. If you are interested in exploring the area of Gascony and Gers or in fact the whole of the south west of France this is an ideal location to be your base. Only 40+ kilometres from Lourdes. Enclosed garden and grounds.

The property and other facilities/sports: Outside there is a hanger with BBQ area seating for eight with a table and 8 sun loungers for use on the two patio areas beyond the Hanger. There is a small hexagonal pool, semi submerged which is 5m wide and 1.2m deep uniformly. Beside the pool there is a petanique area. The hanger also has a table tennis table and dart board within. The house has an open wood burning fireplace in the lounge and a wood burning stove in the kitchen it is insulated and double glazed and has central heating. There is a tennis court for the use of the village residents about 80 metres from the house. There are also couple of golf courses within 20 k of the house. The village has a forest that is a lovely place to go for walks or venture in on mountain bike, it is hilly though. There are equestrian facilities nearby and the top 7 French ski resorts in the Pyrenees are within an hour and a half from the house.

Further details and comments.: The road to the front of the house is virtually traffic free. Review Sept 06. 'We had a great time - we thought the house and furnishings / equipment was the best we have ever encountered and we have been to many over the years' C Cole. Cheshire

This holiday home met all of our needs and expectations. It is an excellent place to relax especially with a family. The facilities for activities (pool, bikes, petanque, table tennis etc., not to mention the good selection of books and games) all made our week very enjoyable. Even when the heat by the pool got too much for some the house itself remained cool. Cooking facilities were good and the house was very clean and comfortable. The owner was extremely helpful via email beforehand and we appreciated a friendly visit from Debbie who looks after the house. We have stayed in many houses in France and would rate this amongst the best.
