Gaillac:
is one of the oldest wine producing areas in France. The town has 3 museums, a thriving market, and many restored medieval buildings. There are a number of good restaurants and many vineyards that can be visited for sampling the varied and good quality wines.

has a rich cultural and historical heritage including that of the Cathars. The medieval city of Albi with its superb cathedral and Toulouse Lautrec museum is only 25 minutes by car. The magnificent pink city of Toulouse is 50 minutes away. Carcassonne is 1.5 hours away. Within easy reach there are many picturesque historic hill top villages called bastides. Castres and the Goya museum is an hour away. The Montagne Noire area has everything for the outdoor enthusiast. Perpignan or the Mediterranean beaches are easily reached for a day trip.

There are numerous country walks in the forests and the vineyards provide locations for both the serious and amateur rambler. The bird and wild life is varied with many species easily spotted.
