Our beautiful ancient farm is on the edge of an idyllic rural village, approx 2 miles from the Dordogne River, yet at the same time is close to all the local attractions of the Lot and Dordogne offering the best of all worlds. Each of our 5 beautiful stone cottages have exposed beams and stone work throughout and are all superbly equipped offering an open plan lounge, dining area with farmhouse table, full kitchen and 2 shower rooms. They also have 2 double bedrooms plus another 1 or 2 bedrooms and can sleep between 5 and 9. Each cottage has its own private terrace, surrounded by fences and gardens, with a pergola, outside lighting , gas BBQ, and patio dining furniture. Our alarmed swimming & paddling pools are fenced, and surrounded by spacious sunbathing terraces & large shady pergolas.Situated next to the woods & walnut groves the pool area is bathed in sunshine from dawn to dusk. Finally the 2.5 acre secure garden offers a large variety of outdoor games and play areas.

Les Espioles is in the village of Nadaillac de Rouge in south-west France. The main International Airports are Toulouse,Limoges, Bergerac, Rodez and Bordeaux, which are approx 1 and a half hours drive. We are located within 4 km of the beautiful Dordogne river and within 20 minutes of Sarlat, Rocamadour,Castlenaud,and an abundance of sports facilities such as canoeing, golf, forest adventures and parascending. The climate is blessed with hot summers and long warm Springs and Autumns, T shirt weather from April to end of October. The area is famous for its history this is the area of the Hundred years war with its chateaux and bastide towns as well as its caves- Lascaux ,Pech-Merle, the Gouffre de Padirac It is also renowned for its gastronomie being the centre of Foie Gras and truffles and for its wines Cahors and Montbazillac

  • 9The above rates are for a 3 bedroom cottage for 5, or 6 people depending upon the cottage booked. Prices for the 4 bed sleeping up to 9 people are approximately £150 more than the pricing above during the peak period.Full pricing available on request .
    A deposit of 50% is required to secure the booking. The balance of the rental is required 8 weeks before arrival. There is also a damage deposit of 200 euros to be paid on arrival in cash and returned on departure
    We recommend that guest take out travel insurance with cancellation cover at the time of booking. . The pool is available from May to the end of September. Long term lets and short breaks considered outside the months of June July and August, Christmas and new year breaks Prices available upon request.

Although located in the quiet tranquility of a rural village, near the Dordogne River, we are near the regions' main attractions including prehistoric caves, the bastide towns & castles of the Hundred Years War, Rocamadour, Domme & Sarlat. For the more active we have several local golf courses, for instance: canoeing, horse riding, tennis and aqua parks. You will enjoy fine Perigordine cuisine in our many local restaurants, and easy access to local wine areas. Our additional facilities include , table tennis, boules, badminton and children playground & ball playing areas, football and basket ball. Laundry facilities & freezer available communally.

We enjoyed our stay at les espioles very much. The property is close to lots of interesting towns (Sarlat, Cahors, Domme) plus lots of caves and other attractions along the Dordogne. The house had everything we needed, and having English TV was nice (although we felt kind of guilty for watching it!) The auberge at the end of the road was convenient for a meal or just a drink. The grounds are huge with plenty of room for kids to safely run around, and the swimming pool and wading pool were perfect. Bev and David are very pleasant to deal with and took excellent care of us.

A sanctuary of peace and tranquility

The Gites are absolutely first class and have everything that you could possibly want, plenty of space, extremely well equipped, and you have the choice of whether you plan to dine-in or al-fresco using teh gas fired BBQ on the terrace. The swimming pool is most welcoming and there is plenty of space for childern to play safely in the garden, boules, badminton, table tennis are all there to be used. Les espioles is set in a beautiful part of France, perfectly situated for exploring the local historical towns, Sarlat, Dom and prehistoric caves are all just an easy drive away, the River Dordogne is only a few miles away, with plenty of canoeing opportunities. Some 250 yards away is a superb restaurant, and not expensive: dont be fooled as you walk by seeing no-one, the restaurant and dining area is packed at the back of the Hotel.So sit out on evening, relax with a great bottle of wine and watch the sun set.. what more do you want.
We loved it and your hosts are most friendly and welcoming .....go on get it booked!

Low key and great

We stayed here for two weeks in September, 2008. We have visited France almost annually from Australia for the last ten years. We cannot speak highly enough of our two weeks here. The "Cottage" was in fact a two storied two bathroom three bedroom one. The owners have converted two old barn buildings into five cottages. Most have their own fenced courtyards with outdoor furniture and a BBQ? The cottages are well maintained. In ours was enough furniture etc. for six people. The owners were very helpful but did not intrude. Any items we requested were promptly attended.

The large grounds have an English Cottage garden appearance with there being a swimming pool area with sunlounges etc. There is also a roofed play area for table tennis and the like. There is a small coin operated laundry.

The cottages are a few minutes walk from the local village which is very small with no shops but there is an restaurant/hotel. there are two towns within a 15/20 minute drive with shops for groceries etc.Very pleasant scenery for local walks but a car is a necessity. It is a wonderful area for getting into the car and setting off for an unplanned day. There are so many interesting villages which simply appear around a corner. We found the general countryside here amongst the best in France.

These cottages are not a six star travel resort. They are low key with adequate furniture and more than adequate kitchen equipment and the like. The owners were wondering if they should instal hot tubs and the like. We suggested that they should not change the ambience in this way. Currently the ambience is quiet, laid back and book reading. Teenagers seemed to like sun baking around the pool.

For holiday makers wanting a restful break in quiet and comfortable surroundings with amazing opportunities for day tripping, we could not recommend more highly.
