Well appointed modern apartment in beautiful old townhouse in the heart of Cauterets. The town is at 1000m and surrounded by a number of stunning peaks at over 2,200m. Beautiful summer walks and trekking are available in abundance. Cauterets is a historic thermal spa town set in the stunning Haut Pyrenees. It can be the perfect place just to get away from it all or use as a base for all summer and Winter sports. Cauterets boasts its own ski station, cross country ski station, plenty of bars and restaurants, a casino, swimming pool, thermal spas, shops, boutiques, ice skating rink, tennis courts and amusement arcade. Cauterets has the most snow assured skiing in the Pyrenees with the station at 1800m. The ski domain is reached by a new 8 man bubble system - named the TGV of the mountains by the French press (newly built in 2005). 36km of marked piste, plenty of great off-piste, 3 other resorts are nearby and reachable by car/bus in under an hour.

Cauterets is a historic thermal spa town at 1000m with its own ski fields at 1800m. Cauterets is set in the Vallee de Cauterets in the heart of the Haute Pyrenees. The Gave (River) de Cauterets runs right through the town and past the apartment. Vignemale (3298m), the French Pyrenees's supreme summit, commands the head of the Vallee. Walks in this area are in abundance, wooded valleys, wonderful lakes climb high passes and scramble up summits. State of the art 8 man bubble lifts take skiers/walkers/ mountain bikers up to the ski station in under 10mins (NEW 2005). Cauterets is just 20km south of Lourdes, the famous religious town with its Basillica and holy water. Flights to Pau, 40kms from Cauterets, direct from Stansted are available daily and twice daily in the summer. Car hire recommended to make the most of the area - although not necessary as train and bus will get you to Cauterets and once there is plenty to do locally.

In the town of Cauterets there are a number of outfits that will arrange day trips/ or longer breaks to enjoy Canyoning, Climbing, Parascending, White Water Rafting, Hydro speed rapid descents, Horse Riding and just about any other mountain based activity that you can think of. We can provide details of those guides/ outfits that we use and recommend. There is a swimming pool open to all in the town during the summer and thermal spas and an indoor pool available all year round.

Ski Breaks

During the ski season we offer organised ski weekend breaks/ long weekend breaks. For groups of 6 to 10 people we look after you for your complete stay. Following your arrival at Pau/ Biarritz airport we will collect you, book your ski hire/ snowboard hire, book lessons/ guides, arrange your lift pass purchase, offer day trips to other nearby resorts, recommend local restaurants and reserve tables and, finally, take you back to the airport at the end of your stay. We stock the appartments with breakfast essentials, local wine and beer. These trips are tailor-made, please phone to arrange in more detail. Prices start from £250 per person for a 3 night stay including all transport, ski hire and lift pass.

Ski and Surf Breaks

For those of you who are tough enough we can offer a combined ski and surf break during March and April (February if you are really tough!). Take 2/3 nights in the mountains and ski the pistes and the off-piste, then stay at our other property in the Landes (Property 8294) for 1 or 2 nights and be taken to the best beaches and surf the winter swells along the famous Aquataine coastline, including Hossegor and Biarritz.
