Les Deserts our beautifully restored cottage is situated next to a pine forest, it offers a haven of peace and tranquillity whilst still being close to all of Normandy's attractions. An ideal base for a family or romantic holiday. it offers all round panoramic views with a large south facing garden which has a plunge pool and sunny terrace with gazebo, table & chairs and BBQ . Inside the cottage benefits from exposed oak beams, granite fireplace with large wood burner for cooler nights, Satellite TV and DVD (large selection of films & surround-sound ). The open plan kitchen is fully equipped to make your holiday more comfortable with dishwasher, washing machine, gas hob and oven etc. The master bedrooms have double beds and the third is a twin with TV & Video , all are pleasantly furnished. The Garden: Les Deserts stands in it's own large and well maintained gardens, with beautiful views of the countryside. The south facing terrace has a lovely view of the neighbouring forest. it is a beautiful place to sit and relax any time of year, you may also be able to spot some of the local wildlife including, Deer, Red Squirrels & Hares and many different kinds of bird, and if you are lucky Wild Boar. there is a gazebo with table & chairs/ Barbecue and plenty of outdoor lights for dining alfresco. To cool of in the summer months there is a large wooden plunge pool, and sun loungers, and for our younger guests there is a sandpit, and a selection of garden toys ( A small Paddling pool is available for toddlers).

we have enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the garden, the house is very well designed and decorated, and we felt at home immediately . Les Deserts location allowed us to thoroughly relax, but it is also close enough to many attractions. we have never been to this area before but we will return as we have had a fantastic holiday-Stuart & Estelle 2006
We have stayed in many many gites but this one is definitely the best so far- The Chapman's 2006

Les Deserts - beautiful

A beautifully kept, excellently equipped cottage. Perfect for a family break with or without children. Great for rural walks and quiet nights. A very peaceful location near enough to all of the main Normandy attractions if you have a car (and sat nav) for some part days out.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Far East meets Les Deserts

We stayed at Les Deserts in late March / early April and although we did not expect constant sunshine we did expect it to be warmer than home in northern Scotland. Unfortunately we arrived in a snow storm to find the cottage cold and damp but with a bottle of wine to welcome us.
The cottage was charming and exactly as in the pictures. Time, effort and love had gone into restoring the property in an ecclectic style with far eastern influences.
We had booked for 4 people but one room did not have any sheets or towels and there were no contact details for a caretaker to ask for some. Also the seal on the doors of the woodburner were missing which meant that the fire did not work efficiently but we managed to buy rope and fire cement and fix this as the fire was essential. The kitchen was well equipt and the owners certainly like movies. We have never seen so many DVD's ! Because of the weather and because many of the local restaurants were closed we spent most evenings round the fire with a glass or two of wine reading books from the excellent collection, playing games or watching a film. We had a very cold week at Les Deserts and could really have done with a tumble dryer. We had to string up a line by the fire to dry towels etc. The stairs are steep and without a handrail on one side so not recommended for the elderly, infirm or the very young. Despite this the cottage is charming, well presented, well set up for guests and in a remote but beautiful area with plenty of day trips available. We would certainly return but hopefully when the weather was a little kinder and we could enjoy the lovely garden! Well worth a visit. (car essential)

Pleasent and spacious

We stayed for a total of five October nights in this lovely hamlet house, and enjoyed every one of them.
The description on the website is quite accurate, and even though the weather did not permit use of the outside minipool or BBQ, we enjoyed the place thoroughly.
The interior decor is abundant with charming Hindu artifacts, and extremely well equipped.
The beds were comfortable and large, and the absolute tranquility of the surroundings permitted excellent rest.
The place is certainly fit for families with children, but the steep climb to the second story bedrooms might prove difficult for elderly or handicapped people, and dangerous for toddlers. A car is absolutely necessary for getting around, and I'm not sure I would have managed to navigate the tiny French country roads without the aid of a GPS.
Communication with the owner was easy and friendly, and the possibility of paying through Paypal very convinient.
In the past we have stayed in many holiday homes in Europe and the USA, and Les deserts rates high up near the top. We recommend it whole heartedly.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

A haven!

Our family of 5 have just returned from a total "chill" week in this fabulous cottage. Beautifully maintained and in a wonderful setting, where only the wildlife compete for your attention. Well situated for exploring Bayeux, and surrounded by lovely traditional villages and towns. Lots to do - we will definitely return!
