Calvados offers all the pleasures of Normandy life, there is something for everyone. The rolling acres of farmland, apple orchards and the sea lend itself to the superb quality of the produce of the area. Cider and Calvados, [experiencing the Trou Normand is a must; a shot of Calvados taken mid-meal to create room for more food] dairy produce, fruits de mer, mussels [with Normandy cream], wild oysters [from Isigny sur mer] and fresh fish are just some of the local specialities to be tasted in this area. The region is steeped in history. From medieval times, the town of Bayeux is home to the famous 11th century tapestry depicting William the Conqueror’s invasion of England and the Battle of Hastings in 1066. More recently, you can visit the beaches of the Normandy D’ Day landings, including Omaha, Utah and Arromanches. You can also visit the picturesque Flower Coast, including the port of Honfleur and the sandy beaches at Deaville, which are ideal for families.

Cottage in Normandy

FrM Romford
Review Submitted: October 10, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
This is a beautiful, well adapted cottage, quiet and very peaceful yet close to all the interesting WW2 sites in Normandy, also close to Bayeaux and with good motorway links to Honfleur and Mont St Michel. When we arrived it was clean, well maintaned and there was a very useful Welcome Pack. The owners, who live adjacent to the cottage were helpful without in any way being obtrusive. The listing was totally accurate and we will recommend it to family and friends.

The Best Easter Holiday!!!

Review Submitted: October 6, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
What's a place....wow!!!!!

We (familly of 4 - children 6&7) spent our last Easter Holiday here and it was Best Easter Holiday Ever.
The cottage is perfectly located with an easy access to all attractions. Even if you don't know The Normandy you will find plenty of flyers and maps in the cottage. After each active day (as we tried to see as much as possible in a week time) we could find this what we were looking for - peace and quiet. Our children loved the cottage (kids bedroom is fantastic - loved their beds ) and freedom in the garden.

The cottage has everything that you may need and is very clean. The Welcome Pack was a very good idea.

Brabara and David were perfect host. They are very friendly and helpfull from the very first moment, when you book your holiday.

Thank you Barbara and David for our Best Easter Holiday.

We highly recommend your cottage and rate it for five stars holiday.

A Charming Getaway

InLoveWithNormandy Cottage Country, Ontario, Canada
Review Submitted: October 1, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We spent a super five days at the cottage. We took day trips to many of the landing beaches, Honfleur, Bayeux, Saint Mere Eglise, Isigny Sur Mer, and Arromanche. All were an easy trip distance (with a rental car from Bayeux) with many other small villages to see along the way. The architecture and many container gardens were stunning. History surrounds you in this beautiful region. The hosts were there to greet and settle us in yet gave us plenty of space it felt like we were there alone on the property. The beds were comfortable and the cottage has lots of character. A truly memorable experience!

Perfect for a relaxing holiday

Alba46 Scotland
Review Submitted: September 24, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
An excellent property ideally situated for visiting Normandy. It was very quiet and peaceful but close enough to the WW2 invasion beaches which was the main reason for our visit. The property was exactly as described on the internet. It was clean and well maintained and lacked for nothing except for possibly a washing machine. The local supermarket is about 10kms up the road and has a wide choice of products.
Barbara and David were very helpful and accommodating. They made it clear that should we require anything just to contact them ie next door.

A visit to Honfleur town and harbour is a must see. We visited most of the invasion beaches but the one that stuck in our minds was the Canadian museum at Juno beach in Courseulles-sur-Mer. Well worth a visit.

Would thoroughly recommend this property if you are planning a visit to Normandy. It was nice to get up in the morning look out the window into the French countryside. We had a really enjoyable stay here. If its an active nightlife you are after try somewhere else.If its peace and quiet you are after within easy commuting distance of the various sights this is the place for you.

Quaint Country Cottage

Oilers Spruce Grover, Alberta, Canada
Review Submitted: November 17, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We loved our stay at this country cottage. It afforded us the opportunity to see all of the D-Day beaches and other signficant areas related to the war. Also, it is with in driving distance to apple cider tours, Bayeaux, and Falais. The owners are friendly and kind and the home is an easy drive to get to. The home was well kept, clean, and had all the amenities required. Loved going into the near by town for pastries and baguettes in the morning!
