Charming old blacksmith's cottage in historic Normandy

Le Coisel is an old blacksmith's cottage, parts of it hundreds of years old, laid out on one level in the heart of the quiet Norman countryside. The large lounge retains all the original features including oak beams, a terracotta floor and a generous stone fire place. The kitchens and bathrooms have been upgraded to a modern standard that retains the charm of the original without compromising comfort and convenience. The cottage is situated in a quiet lane about 300m from the little village of Crocy which has its own general store. There is parking for several cars and areas in the garden for sitting or barbecuing. Crocy is 7km away from the market town of Falaise and 30km south of Caen. An ideal place for a restful break or summer holiday with a garden for children to play in or for sitting and relaxing. We even have a petanque pitch so it will be ready if you fancy a game of boule before dinner.

The Mulberry harbour at Arromanches and the well sign posted sightseeing route shows the recent history of the area. Well within reach are Bayeux, with the 900 year old tapestry of the Norman invasion and Caen with its children’s amusement park at Festyland, Abbeys, shops, gardens and restaurants. There is a new swimming pool in Falaise, cycling ( 2 cycles provided), golf and horse riding in the region. You can shop for antiques, take a coffee in the square, buy fantastic cakes or chocolates from the many artisans in the town. Review Submitted: December 06, 2007, Date of stay: December, 2007

'We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed ourselves. The directions were great and easy to follow, Madame Langeard was helpful and very friendly, the house was everything we wanted. We were able to make ourselves at home & with 2 small chlidren - that is really important!. We saw lots of wonderful sights around Falaise, Caen and Lisieux & spent many happy hours in the beautiful garden with paddling pools, wine and cheese....perfect!. We're already planning next years trip.
