Photos and Description of this Calvados holiday cottage 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 8

'La Bouveterie' is a delightful, traditional 16thC half-timbered cottage and barn set in the beautiful Valley d'Ingres in an unspoilt semi-rural location, within 5 minutes walk of the village of La Riviere St Sauveur which has bakers, butcher, pharmacy, general store, restaurants, newsagent and post office. A pretty, secure and spacious garden surrounds the property. The cottage is ideally placed in the Pays d'Auge region of Calvados for exploring the historic areas of Northern France. This area is at the heart of Normandy's 3 particular delights - cider, Calvados and cheese, of which Camembert is the most famous. Nearby are lovely sandy beaches and picturesque villages. Access to Honfleur from the main channel ports is both fast and easy via a quiet motorway network. Also Paris is just a 2 hour drive. Honfleur is, without doubt, the jewel of Normandy's coast. It has quaint cobbled streets, quayside restaurants and bars, art galleries and museums, a marina, and 2 public gardens.

The medieval and historic town of Honfleur is less than a 10 minute drive from the property. It has strong connections with the Impressionist movement and the Eugene Boudin museum is well worth a visit. The weekly market on Saturdays is an ideal place to buy fresh produce - cheese, vegetables, bread and meats. In addition, there is a bio-marche on Wednesday mornings in the town. Deauville is an elegant seaside resort famous for horse racing, its casino and seafront promenade of timber decking and it has a lovely sandy beach. Trouville is a typical seaside town full of character and charm with a daily fish market and a sandy beach with activities for children. Both are within a 25 minute drive. Nearby are some very pretty towns and villages - Pont L'Eveque, Pont Audemer, Beaumont en Auge, Beuvron en Auge. Driving through the countryside in this area is a pleasure and the coastal route from Honfleur towards Deauville and further afield to Houlgate and Cabourg is very worth while.

Wonderful week May 8-15 09

Review Submitted: June 1, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Steve and Debbie with brother and partner, mum and dad and elderly aunt.
Perfect setting with wonderful views, the cottage is just lovely and have never been anywhere that has been so well equipped. Our parents were happy just to sit in the garden rather than going out was so relaxing! The turkey in the orchard at the end of the garden offered us all great amusement, patroling the fence protecting his harem of chickens- mind we were eating thier delious eggs!
We will be going again- if there are any slots left i should have kept "La Bouveterie" a secret instead of extolling its virtues to all my friends. xx
Owner's Response: To "Dotty Deb"!

Thanks for taking the trouble to review La Bouveterie and for passing on favourable comments to your friends. It's very much appreciated. Another satisfied family!

Our best wishes,
Diane and Gary

Great family holiday

...Alastair Leicester
Review Submitted: August 13, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We have has a great time at this cottage and barn. We have stayed in many Gites etc. in France and this was a delight, very well equipped and well maintained property. It was fantastically private and relaxing with the garden in full bloom when we stayed. We ranged in age from 5 to 72 and all had a great time playing in the garden, feeding the chickens and consuming the wonderful hospitality of the local frienfdly neighbour Roger. Loved Honfleur, inevitably, but also worth a visit on the 'Cider run', the pretty, charming little village of Beuvron-en-Auge. A lovely property and we will return I am sure.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind review, Alastair. Again, the property seems to have been a hit with all age groups......and yet again the chickens get a mention!

Kind regards, Diane

La Bouveterie

Review Submitted: July 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
A charming cottage and renovated barn, well maintained, with all the modern conveniences we've come to expect, in a perfect country setting, yet close to all amenities. Two very good local restaurants within walking distance were a pleasant surprise. Its location is perfect for day trips around the area. Highly recommended for anyone looking for peace and quiet and daily tours.
Owner's Response: Thank you, Iole. I'm very pleased that when guests enjoy their stay they take the trouble to submit a review. It's great to know that you and all your family enjoyed your holiday in the Honfleur area. Merci mille fois!
Regards, Diane

Great house, fantastic location June 12-19th 09

Review Submitted: June 25, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We were a real mix of ages staying at"La Bouveterie" from 6 to 72 and there was something for everyone. Amy 7 and Harry 6 loved the small upstairs bedroom they liked going through the little door, and the all around the cottage garden was great for hide and seek and chase. Grandparents- Tony and Irene enjoyed a lazy walk to the local bakery, a walk by the river and the short drive to Honfleur which is stunning. Mum & Dad- Julian and Donna enjoy relaxing in a safe area with lots of bathrooms and a good size garden within a short drive to the beaches of Tourville and Deauville, so no cries of "are we there yet"! Family friends- Adrian and Louise loved the peace, quiet and shopping in Honfleur. They also went to the D-Day beaches that were only and hour down the road.
We travelled via the channel tunnel which took 2 hours 30 minutes and had a lovely time we will recommend to friends and family.
Owner's Response: Thank you Donna and Julian.

It's good to point out that the area/house is suitable for all ages and that it's an easy drive from the tunnel.......and, yes, Honfleur is a stunning town, so picturesque.

Kind regards, Diane and Gary

I've read most of the reviews and I agree with them. We were a group of friends (3 couples and 1 widow) and we had a great time. The place is perfect for all kind of people and it is very well equipped. I would certainly recommend it to my relatives and friends.
Owner's Response: Thanks for reviewing our property. We're glad you and all your friends had a good time touring the area. The photo is lovely - I'll give a copy to our neighbours.

Kind regards, Diane and Gary
