On a hillside, in a quiet, friendly village, with splendid views over the valley. 4 bedrooms (2 doubles - one with a cot, 2 twins), bathroom, shower room, (both with WC). Modern fully equipped kitchen (including hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, food processor, washing machine, drier). Plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses, etc. We enjoy food and cooking and the kitchen equipment reflects this. Two charming beamed living rooms, one with large open fireplace, sofa, chairs, and TV/video /DVD player, digibox - but take your own card; the other with 10 seater dining table, comfortable seating, and access to the small garden. At the other end of the house is a much larger garden with a flat area for games etc, and a meadow area in which there are usually some chickens and sheep. There is garden furniture and a barbeque, and these can be used in either garden area. Ours is a comfortably furnished family home, with books, toys, games, jigsaw puzzles, etc.

Location: Eure in France

Nearest Ferry: Le Havre at 60 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Bernay (for Paris/Caen) at 25 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: A13 at 25 Kilometres
Car: necessary
St Grégoire is about 4kms from St Georges du Vievre which has all the essential shops. It is about 12kms from Brionne and Pont Audemer, both of which have colourful twice weekly street markets and large supermarkets. Le Havre is about an hour and Calais between 2.5 and 3 hrs; Honfleur, Deauville, Rouen and Lisieux are all between about 45mins and an hour away; Paris is about 1.5hrs, by car, and about the same by train from Bernay (which avoids Paris driving and parking!), and Bayeux is about the same. There is swimming at an outdoor pool in St Georges; and a lake with a sandy beach in Brionne. The Normandy beaches are within 1hr, and Golf, tennis, sailing, canoeing and riding are all close by. There are many châteaux, gardens, etc in the area, including the monastery at Bec Hellouin, Champ de Bataille (which also has a golf course) and Monet's Giverny. We love the many miles of wonderful forest walks, which are especially beautiful in the spring and autumn.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Gas for cooking is included.
    'Normal' usage of electricity (100 units a week) is included: additional units are charged at €0.25.
    Cleaning is €50 per letting payable when the keys are collected.
    Firewood €25/£15 per week from mid September to the end of March.
  • Long weekends out of season and long term lets by arrangement.
    Changeover days at Christmas/New Year can be varied by agreement.
  • For summer rentals a security deposit of £150 is required. For winter lets the security deposit is £250. This is held against additional charges and/or damage, and is refunded to you - less appropriate deductions - about 2 weeks after the end of your rental.
