Half an hour's easy drive from the channel port of Cherbourg in the lush green countryside of the Saire valley, Anneville is a quiet, pleasant village with a river running through it. Nestling in its own private courtyard, no.12 is an early 19th-century farmhouse that can accommodate up to eight people. A bakery, a bar and a butcher's shop (which doubles as a grocers) are a few minute's walk from the house, and it will only take you five minutes to reach safe, pleasant beaches. The house has 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin. Upstairs there is a bathroom and separate W.C. Downstairs there is a shower-room with W.C. The sitting room has a sofa-bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and ample cooking and eating utensils for a party of eight. Heating is by independent electric radiators in every room. There is also a powerful wood burning stove in the kitchen/living room and an open fireplace in the sitting room.

Nearest Ferry: Cherbourg at 30 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Valognes at 22 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 4.0 Kilometres
Car: recommended
The house is on the edge of a small village near the pretty fishing port of Barfleur and the town of St Vaast (famous for its oysters and other seafood). There are beaches about five minutes away by car or ten minutes by bicycle. Further afield are the World Heritage sites of Bayeux and Mont Saint Michel - both easily accessible for a day tour. The D-Day landing beaches are just twenty minutes away. The countryside between the house and the sea (to the north and east) is generally flat and ideal for gentle bicycling on the way to a swim. Inland are the hills of the bocage for the more energetic. Bicycles can be hired locally. The village itself boasts a baker and a butcher which carries a small range of groceries. There is a bar and small grocer's shop a short walk away. There are supermarkets at Quettehou (five minutes away) St Pierre Eglise (ten minutes away).

We spent a most enjoyable week at this farmhouse with friends who were making a second visit.
It was everything we could want for our comfort and enjoyment.being clean,well maintained,comfortable,and well equipped. In fact whatever we thought we needed we could find! including hundreds of books for all ages, a boule set,and I also
spotted a couple of tents.
A Farmhouse with great character, very spacious,a large rear garden, ideal if you had children, a lovely courtyard with chairs, table, sunshade, and access to a bar-b-que.
Tom and Antony were excellent hosts,they had a wealth of local information if we asked.
The local baker is a ten minute walk away for the morning baguette.The local butcher spit roasts chicken on a Sunday in the street by his shop.
A very nice area,Barfleur is a delight etc etc. A great holiday and we thank Tom and Antony for making us feel welcome.

Enjoy rural France

It is a delight to keep returning to this holiay location. The welcome is warm, the house is ideal for families, big garden safe local beaches, a cooks delight and peaceful.
Enjoy the abundance of fine foods from the local markets or eat out in a wide choice of resturants. We never tire of staying here and find something new to visit each time.
We bought our football mad 5year old grandson to stay and he enjoyed every day, rockpools and sand plus the space to kick a ball around in the garden.
When we retire we shall look to spend longer holidays in this delightful house.

We've had two fantastic holidays in Anneville en Saire with our children. We love the house ( full of books, huge garden and lovely farnhouse kitchen, with helpful mod cons like a dishwasher and tumbledryer which make family holidays easier!)

It's a very easy drive from the ferry at Cherbourg, and well placed for exploring the area. Lots to do locally and plenty more within a 30 minute drive. Beautiful child-friendly sandy beach at Maltot, a 5 minute drive away, and 5 minutes in the other direction to picturesque Barfleur. Don't miss climbing the lighthouse at Gatteville!

Tom and Anthony couldn't be more friendly or helpful, but are very relaxed and never intrusive.

Grat Holiday

We had a really fun family holiday and the second time we have visited. The cottage was perfect lots of space for the 4 of us (2 children aged 8 and 10). The children walked to the boulangerie every day for croisants. We went on lovely bike rides, up the valley and out to the coast, spent lovely afternoons at the beach, found buckets of cowries, lovely soft sand and even some surf and we visited a different beach every day. We spent one day at the Bayeux Tapestry and returned via Omaha beach well worth the day out. Lots of lovely local food and we had perfect weather not too hot and not cold. A great holiday July 08.
