Restored farmhouse in the beautiful Val de Saire

Half an hour's easy drive from the channel port of Cherbourg in the lush green countryside of the Saire valley, Anneville is a quiet, pleasant village with a river running through it. Nestling in its own private courtyard, no.12 is an early 19th-century farmhouse that can accommodate up to eight people. A bakery, a bar and a butcher's shop (which doubles as a grocers) are a minute's walk from the house, and it will only take you five minutes to reach safe, pleasant beaches. The house has 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin. Upstairs there is a bathroom and separate W.C. Downstairs there is a shower-room with W.C. The sitting room has a sofa-bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and ample cooking and eating utensils for a party of eight. Heating is by independent electric radiators in every room. There is also a powerful wood burning stove in the kitchen/living room and an open fireplace in the sitting room.

The house is on the edge of a small village near the pretty fishing port of Barfleur and the town of St Vaast (famous for its oysters and other seafood). There are beaches about five minutes away by car or ten minutes by bicycle. Further afield are the World Heritage sites of Bayeux and Mont Saint Michel - both easily accessible for a day tour. The countryside between the house and the sea (to the north and east) is generally flat and ideal for gentle bicycling on the way to a swim. Inland are the hills of the bocage for the more energetic. The village itself boasts a baker, a butcher which carries a small range of groceries and a bar which also serves weekday lunches. There is another bar and small grocer's shop a short walk away.

Local activities diving, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, wind-surfing, mountain biking
