Photos and Description of this Manche holiday farmhouse A self-catering complex of 2 properties, sleeps up to 14

Le Jardin is situated in a tiny hamlet surrounded by farmland and beautiful countryside on the outskirts of the village of Vezins, in the vicinity of the Grand Lac la Sélune. Peace and tranquillity are to be expected, but with all the creature comforts catered for. It is an ideal base to explore all of Normandy from Mt.San Michel in the South up to the Normandy beaches and Bayeaux to the North. We have a Fishing shack on the lake for the use of our guests. The lake has large Carp (up to 50 Ib...yeah right...not seen above 25 pounder myself), Catfish (allegedly!), Pike and Zander for more experienced anglers and full of Roach and bream for anyone wanting to try a spot of angling for the first time. I am always more than happy to supply an hour or two's tuition. Bedlinen and towels available to rent. Mont St Michel can be seen from the orchard. The two properties are available to rent together during Peak times..a discount would apply. Please ask for details

Wonderful place, good house, excellent hosts

Thomas from Denmark Copenhagen, Denmark
Review Submitted: November 7, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
To everyone thinking of going here, don't think twice choose this one. The location, housing and hosts are just excellent, so no need to worry.
We stayed with Steve and Dawn at Lejardin in early July '09, and had a wonderful time there. As a family of four, we had booked the farmhouse which turned out to be really great, has everything needed, and if you need anything else, Steve will get it for you, more or less!!
We even had friends who were travelling through France come and stay with us for a few days, no problem in the house and of course no problem with Steve. We did enjoy all that the property had to offer, there is a nice pool there for small children, (ours were 10/6), a barbecue, well, all good things that you would want when going with children, including cats.
Steve, the landlord, was so good to us, and even took time out to go with us to the fishing lodge, (a fantastic spot), and do some hours of fishing with us, which was a great success with our oldest son, and ourselves of course!
Being in the countryside you naturally need a car to get here and get around, but then everything, sightseeing, shopping and outdoor activites are within easy distance from here.
We simply cannot find one negative thing to report here really, so we can only strongly recommend a stay with Dawn and Steve to anyone thinking of going to Normandy, you will not regret it. We will definitely be going again ourselves.

Family visit and holiday

Review Submitted: September 17, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
I would like to say how much myself and our family enjoyed our holiday in the farmhouse in Vezins. The farmhouse was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. The area does require a car for travelling around as it is in the county side and the nearest village is a few kilometres away.
I would recommend this property and location to any of my friends as we all had a wonderful time.
I would like to give my thanks to Steve and Dawn the owners for making us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. I already have my family asking if they can return again soon.

Fantastic Family Farmhouse!!

Nickphysio Dorset
Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We stayed at this typically French farmhouse in September and had a fantastic holiday. We were initially concerned when we read a previous review of the property from some other visitors. We contacted Steve who is the perfect host, (there when needed but not in your face) who put our fears to rest with speedy, informative replies to my e-mails. We weren't disappointed on arrival either as it was as discribed on the site and thus just what we were after.
We have 2 young kids and there was lots to do in the surrounding areas and also animals to see in the neighbouring farm. We needed a stair gate and Steve got one, if we needed directions Steve would be more than happy to help out.
We were blessed with a week of sunshine. However, there are lots of things to entertain a family in the surrounding area rain or shine.
So for all those reading these reviews please look past the pointless remarks made about noisey floor boards it is an old French farmhouse it just makes it more of a challenge getting to the bathroom in the night without waking the kids!! And as for cobwebs, the spiders were there before us and over all we couldn't fault the cleanliness of the place. We have stayed in many places and find that there are always people that will find something to complain about!! We complain if things are bad but we had no complaints here and would definately stay here again

Great holiday in Normandy

Review Submitted: September 6, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We have just returned from a week spent at this lovely farmhouse.

Our family of 6 was comfortably accommodated. The farmhouse was perfect - lots of space for 3 adults and 3 children aged 10, 12 and 15.

We would recommend this place to anyone who is thinking of discovering this beautiful area of France.

We really enjoyed barbecues and pleasant evenings in the beautiful garden, bike rides around the lanes, fishing at the shack on the lake which Steve also runs (5km from the house), where our son caught his first carp.

There is loads to do and see nearby (Le Mont-Saint-Michel, Dol De Bretagne, Cancale)and some good beaches not far to drive to.

We had a really fun family holiday and the second time we have visited.

Lots of lovely local food, local sea food and some nice restaurants.

Quiet, pretty escape

spcmal Tilburg, the Netherlands
Review Submitted: August 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
The property is very pretty and typical rustic French decorated inside typical English style. We were a family of 2 adults and 2 children, 8 & 14 months.

In the house, there were separate rooms for all of us including a portable crib and room to move around as a group downstairs. There were plenty of adult and children's DVDs, board games and brochures to leaf through for quiet nights in the house. The kitchen was well equipped with all necessary ammenities including a coffee maker, toaster, washing machine, etc. plus some starter detergents. The upper floors were pretty clean. All linen and towels were included in the rent, this was a nice perk. The property itself is very nice, an old campground with lots of space to run around outside, BBQ and 2 small sitting areas, one directly outside of the main house.

The house itself is in good condition although it really needed a good cleaning before we arrived. There were old cobwebs with dead (and live) spiders in the corners of the rooms downstairs and lots of dirt and dust on the floor that we ended up cleaning out. The furniture also shows obvious signs of wear and tear. The sofa did not smell particularly nice. There is a cat(s) that roams freely in the house when it is not occupied (attention allergy sufferers!!). It also had the "creakiest" stairs I've ever heard in my life! Needless to say, not ideal for a family with a crawling toddler who sleeps lightly.

Steve, the owner who lives on site, was very friendly and made himself available for chats in passing. He also was kind enough to let us pick some fresh raspberries and potatoes from his vegetable garden. He also lent us his charcoal for the BBQ (which we replaced later on).

The property is quite isolated so you do need a car to get anywhere. There is a large grocery store within a 5 - 10 minute drive from the house. This was an ideal location for us to go to many, many different locations for sightseeing including Mont St. Michel, St. Malo, CAUMONT L'EVENTE, Beauvoir, Milly, VILLEDIEU LES POELES, and more!

I would recommend this house to a family with slightly older children or couples seeking a romantic hideaway.
Owner's Response: I would like to say that the house was cleaned prior to arrival. If it did not meet the guests (and our own) high standards it is a shame nothing was mentioned at the time as I would have been more than happy to do whatever was required to rectify the situation.
Perhaps the oak floor and stairs were a factor. It is surprising how much dust can show in even a couple of days compared to a fitted carpet. It does seem strange that upstairs (carpeted) was deemed cleaner than downstairs when in reality they were cleaned to the same standard.

I would like to apologise if a cob-web or two were present however I feel the case has been overstated.

It is also nonsense to say a cat has the run of the place when it is unoccupied. I am intrigued as to how the reviewer feels justified in making this claim.
