Manche holiday cottage: Ducey

We stayed in the newly renovated Cottage during the first two weeks of July 2009. What a wonderful find! The Cottage is very well equipped with all mod cons including a dishwasher, a large oven, large wall mounted flat screen TV and DVD with UK satelite TV. A great place to retreat to when not touring Normandy and Brittany.

Lots to see and do within a reasonable drive; Mont San Michel was out of this world, but go early as the crowds build up as the day goes on. And don't miss; Bayeux, Omaha Beach & US War Cemetary Museum, Dinan, Fougeres and Vitre. Steve and Dawn were very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure our stay was completely trouble free.

The pool was much better than expected from the web site. Whilst small, being round you can swim for hours without stopping. It was a little chilly due to our weather (which was mixed, but good enough to come home with tans), but we soon got used to it. The girls, 14 and 11, in particular loved it. We all loved the huge garden with views all around the countryside, and my favourite spot, a bench with a distant view over Mont San Michel. (next time I'm going to ask Steve if I can have a shot of cutting the grass on the sit on lawnmower;-)

We even fitted in a night in Paris (2 hours on the TGV via Renne), pricy but very memorable, when we were able to show the girls all the places they had wanted to see.

The Cottage was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was small but ideal, especially with it's spa bath! Next time we will travel via St Malo (another great place to visit) rather that Boulogne, 800 miles from Edinburgh was a wee bit too far. We did benefit from a stop in Honfluer on the way home - lovely wee place.

So, in summary, we would certainly recommend this property for family holidays with lots to do, but from a quiet rural location.
