Normandy farmhouse, in the heart of the Bocage.

Our house is a 200 year old Normandy farmhouse located in the heart of the Bocage and close to the beaches. It has recently been sympathetically renovated to a high standard, and offers comfortable and spacious accommodation for 8 people. It is in a secluded location 1km outside of the village of Roncey, and has a large south facing garden. The house has 3 large double bedrooms, 2 singles and a bathroom, all on the first floor. There is a separate shower room on the ground floor, and a large, fully-equipped kitchen, a sitting room with log burning fire, and child's playroom. There are CD players, and a TV/DVD. The garden has a lovely view, yet remains private, and there are recliners and a table and chairs for eating al fresco. There is modern central heating. The house is ideal for a family relaxing in the Normandy countryside, and is well-placed for the expansive beaches of western Manche, as well as the extensive activities and sights of beautiful Normandy.

The house is one hour from the ferry ports of Cherbourg and Caen. It is one km from the village of Roncey, with its shops and bars. The historic towns of Bayeaux and Coutances are close by, and the beautiful beaches of the Cotentin peninsula are 20 minutes drive. The beaches and battlefields of the Normandy campaign are 45 minutes drive away. There is swimming, golf, sailing, tennis, riding, fishing and numerous other activities all within easy reach. There is a market in the village on Fridays, and a big market in Coutances on Saturdays. To the west is the attractive fishing port of Granville, and to the north are the villages, ports and beaches of the Cotentin. Normandy is renowned for its gastronomy, and there are dozens of markets, restaurants and suppliers within easy reach. The walled port of St Malo and Mont St Michel are just around the peninsula into Brittany.

If central heating or logs are required there will be a charge of 75 euros PW, paid locally (it is a big house to heat).

Golf Information:

There are superb courses at Granville, Avranches, Lac de Lathee, Hauteville and elsewhere. There are alternative activities such as walks and the beaches in close proximity to all of these courses for golf widows and orphans.

As a family with young children we all enjoyed the chance to experience the French countryside. The home was clean, large but still had a charming country feel. The quietness was a pleasant change to city living and allows you to unwind while the children play in a pleasant environment. The location is picturesque and allow access to all the Normandy tourist destinations via the absolutely delightful French countryside. I would recommend this property as a holiday destination.
