Normandy Farmhouse with Pool, Tennis and Fishing

Les Pommiers farmhouse is the principal residence within a 17 acre private estate, three further cottages are a short distance away in the grounds. Les Pommiers is a large yellow stone farmhouse set in four acres of its own private gardens, among rolling pastures and orchards. This spacious house is ideal for a convivial family gathering or two families wishing to holiday together. The garden is full of rare mature trees and a haven for wildlife and birds. The red squirrel is a regular visitor as is the kingfisher, green and greater spotted woodpeckers and many others. There is a private Nordic style outdoor swimming pool and use of a shared tennis court. The house has four large bedrooms including a large master bedroom suite with a private sun terrace. There are three bath/shower rooms one en suite within the house, with an additional shower room accessed from the garden near the swimming pool.

Normandy is a beautiful region of France, a verdant land of delightful scenery, little colombage cottages nestling in the hills, friendly local people and of course delicious food and wine The North Coast with its golden sands and elegant seafront promenade is a pleasant drive away. The region is steeped in History and holds delights for all ages and interests. The Normandy Beaches of the historical D Day landings are an easy drive from here. Bayeux with its magnificent hand worked tapestry, majestic Cathedral and many restaurants, is less than an hour away. Monet’s House and Gardens at Giverney , though a little further away, are a memorable way to spend a day. Honfleur , with its charming fishing port, surrounded by first class seafood restaurants, is very close. The cheeses of the region are legendary and are named after many of our local towns Livarot, Pont L’Eveque. The village of Camembert is just 2 miles away.

Notes:

The house has attractive and spacious accommodation arranged over three floors, with exposed beams, intricate carving and stonework. The living room has a huge open fireplace, furnishings are large and comfortable. A beamed archway leads to the dining room which has a wood burning stove. From here doors lead through to the kitchen which is well equipped. The house has four bedrooms. On the first floor the master bedroom suite is a large light room with windows overlooking the gardens, double doors lead through the en suite bathroom onto a large private terrace. There are two further bedrooms on this floor, both spacious, one with a large double bed, the other with twin beds. These rooms have an adjacent shared bathroom. An oak staircase leads up to the second floor where there is one large bedroom with 4 single beds and an ensuite bathroom with separate WC.

The Gardens

Les Pommiers is approached via a long driveway, it is a lovely yellow stone farmhouse named after the many apple trees in the orchard beside it. The house is set in a four acre private garden which is in turn set in 12 acres of landscaped parkland. The garden is full of rare mature trees and a haven for wildlife and birds. The red squirrel is a regular visitor as is the kingfisher, green and greater spotted woodpeckers and many others. The adjacent parkland is a delight to explore. There are wonderful walks beside the lake and stream, and through the Japanese Water Garden and woods. The lake is full of large carp and trench, and many a peaceful fishing afternoon can be spent here in the shade of a tree.

Outdoor Dining and Swimming

The outdoor dining area is on the sunny patio with seating for up to ten people overlooking the garden. The pool is an attractive wooden Nordic style with wide wooden steps leading into it. It is approximately 18ft x 12 ft, and is 4 feet deep.
